    Hola Enrique!

I'll be back in Ecuador the last week of November. Form there, I'll ride down to Cusco, and then leave my bike and return home for Christmas. In early, January, I will return to Cusco and then continue the ride south to Santiago, where I would like to be for the Dakar finish on January 20.

Keep in touch! Maybe we can meet along the way in January.

    Hey Michael!,

I´m glad that you choose to visit Chile, the "Carretera Austral" is a beautiful trip, you won´t be disappointed!

The actual price of GAS is USD 1,70 per liter!, (Is one of the higher prices in years in Chile).

I just subscribed to this thread!.

I´m Chilean, who lives in Santiago!

If you need some information about Chile, just ASK!

    Juan

Thanks, Juan. I do plan on riding the Carretera Austral, and of course I'll try to be in Santiago for the Dakar finish. :D If I need anything or have any questions, I'll contact you.

Those gas prices will be a shocker after paying about US$2.00 a gallon in Ecuador!

I don't know when I will cross the Gap, but when I do, your experience will help me tremendously.
    Thank you and good luck.

I'd add OSM free maps to the list above, best of all they are free.

Always nice to have all the options, seems every map does better in a certain area than the next.

Mike, You only have one Mom You will miss her till your last ride. But the memories will keep her alive. Where ever I travel during my evening walks I stop by a church and light a special candle for my great ones who now watch over me.

Great RR. Makes me want to point the front wheel South and keep riding. But vicariously will work for now...

It's been a truly great experience and is ongoing--just haven't updated the ride report much. The bike is now in Santiago, Chile, where I left it after following a few stages of the 2013 Dakar. Next stage will take me across the continent to Montevideo.

This year was very busy. After riding a bit in Colombia I had a busy travel year--Australia, China, and many trips to Central and South America but sadly, not a lot of riding outside of Colombia. So my trip to TDF and back is still on hold. Hoping to resume in earnest in January. :nod

Parcero, was there a conclusion to this trip? Last I heard you were in Chile and maybe heading south or maybe shipping the bike home. Update, please!

Planning on heading down to Santiago in May to pick up the bike (finally) and resume the trip. I will try to head south to Ushuaia if the weather holds. If not, I will detour north through Argentina and Bolivia and head south later in the year.
