for those that don't know it's a 1/4 mile dirt track built indoors in Tulsa Oklahoma. 350+ cars are entered. The cars are "midgets", a small 75" or so wheelbase open wheel car weighing 8-900 lbs with 350hp or thereabouts. The cars will be divided into qualifying nites starting tonite 1-10-17 all fighting for a spot in Saturday's finale.
The finals will be broadcast live on MAV tv 1-14-17 @ 8:30 est.

Just to add, those 350+ entries are all trying to make the 24 car final. Elimination heat races from hell.

We've been goin' since the 4th one! My grand dad had raced an antique midget, and they were always invited to show their cars, and do a few hotlaps. Now on Saturday they start racing at like 10:30 with FF features and then race till 11:00pm to the A main. so there is no time for them anymore. It's also about the only place where nascar, indycar, nhra, and usac guys all compete anymore. The racing is always awesome, and the crowds are allowed to have fun. ; )

I have a nephew named Tim Spurgeon, who has done quite a bit of western NASCAR with decent success. Anyway he received an invitation to the Chilibowl a few years ago. He said it was over the top and the midgets were a lot more of a handful than he thought! I'm not sure he finished any heats.

Defending Chili Bowl champ Christopher Bell is among the Tulsa Shootout entries, getting a feel for the race track. If you're REALLY serious, it's on PPV
