Ride on Saturday afternoon, after lunch. Route will be part dirt, part tar, how much dirt we do will be weather dependant and also see how we all feel on the day. So it's flexible.

Hey girls, riding this weekend I decided it's got cold and winter is on it's way.:vardy Visor was fogging up and fingers and toes feeling the lower temperatures. It's time we had another ride and weekend away, but I'm thinking somewhere warm. My suggestion is the Jamison Pub and we can do a ride up to Mt Skene for example. I know Mt Skene won't be warm, but the pub will be heaven after freezing our butts off on the bikes.

However, I'm up for suggestions so bring on your ideas.:ear

Also when??? June, July. There are a couple of girls who need to get back on their feet/bikes, we'll organise dates around them if possible.

As usual, all women welcome to our all girls event.:D

If there is snow happy to be involved in balance exercises but more likely to have something long and skinny on my feet. As for June/July hmmm there is something about moving an over furnished house a third of the way up the road to be closer to the Golden Triangle crew. Then again we currently have the dilema of transporting house and bikes, maybe I could go via Skene.

Yeah Craig you are right about the snow, we'll work that one out closer to the time.

Husky girl, what about early to mid July, you'd be moved by then wouldn't you?

I'm off to the OCR for August, so I'd like to do our Chix ride early enough to service my bike and get it ready to go to the Cape.

Awesome Jardine, happy to hear you're keen.

    Evening Miss Jane.

May I as a mere male suggest the Gap tavern, about 5 kms west of Matlock, which is the highest tavern in Vic, (without being a ski resort). It is above 5,000mts, brillant location with an interesting dirt approach, but not too difficult:D. You sleep in dorm's and last I checked, was about was about $80 pp, includes dinner, breakfast and accomodation.

The Monarchs run their Winter Solstice weekend ride(shortest day in Winter, usually late June) to the Woods Point pub( about 14 kms futher north east) a great weekend, guaranteed wet, cold and muddy.

What is good for the gander is good for the goose:lol3:lol3:lol3

    Hi Miss Jane...
Just be aware of the road closure, you'll need a permit to get up to Mt Skene. Below is an extract from 4wd Vic.. http://www.fwdvictoria.org.au/upload/downloads/Mt Skene Article.pdf

Commencing on the 14th June 2012, and Pursuant to Clause 7 of Schedule 11 of the Local
Government Act 1989, Mansfield Shire Council advises the implementation of the seasonal
road closure of part of the Jamieson-Licola Road over Mt Skene from Thursday 14th June
    2012 to Thursday 1st November 2012
    ...
This year’s closure period has been gazetted as being from Thursday 14th June 2012 to
    Thursday 1st November 2012
    Closure is from
Wrens Flat (Mt Sunday Road) to the Mansfield / Wellington Shire Boundary, Mt Buller Road ,
Walkers Airstrip, Jamieson (across the bridge), Wrens’ Flat, Wellington Shire Boundary, Licola,
Heyfield, start / finish of snake / Edwards drive, and via Lazarini Spur track.

    Thanks for the advice fella's.:thumb

Have to admit the Mt Skene idea was off the top of my head, except, because it's high I had a fair idea it could be covered in snow. But you never know with Aussie ski seasons, they can be rather short on snow can't they. I'll sit down with some maps and see where that gets us.

The 4wd club we're with has run a snow camping trip up there last couple of years. Hopefully doing that again this year!:evil

You could try Mt Terrible if you want some snow... and with luck someone might have the fire going in the hut!

Changing the subject... maybe you could hassle LooseGoose to join ya... (don't tell her I asked...) :hide

MJ, Fab idea, but can I please make a plea for those of us who can't get Monday's or Fridays off work.... needs to be a reasonable one day distance from wherever we are leaving from. A few weekends are already booked for us with matters cultureal (?!) at that time, but will let you know.

Yep, got that covered Mel. Attempting to keep everyone happy.:D

Where ever we end up, I'll probably ride over all or part of the way on the Friday evening - I have good lights though. Others can suit them selves.

Organise something and I will do my best to come along, getting bikes serviced for the OCR is important. We will be taking time off in August, so will have to see how the snow holds out, as we missed our April trip to the centre, so no snow could mean OCR.

Yeah Sue you're keen to ride also, was worried you'd still be in recovery.

[IMG] to be a girl, but where you girls are planning on going, would it be possible to get there on bitumen? [IMG] I could even meet you there. May even be some other sooks that would join me. [IMG]

Barry Strom is HUGE and I am not keen on trying to manhandle him on slippery dirt trails or roads, but would be interested in a weekend away with the Chix. [IMG]

    If not, no problems. [IMG]

No worries Canary, yes you can get there by bitumen.:D

So you can meet us there if you like.

I'm still formulating a plan, will have a look at the maps over the weekend. If any one has suggestions: :ear

Alright, I've got a minute to post now the orange and almond cake is in the oven.:dg

    I've got a bit of a plan:

Either 1st and 2nd or 8th and 9th July - votes please. Huskygirl when will you be moved in?

Meet Saturday lunch time (Schevey you won't need to get up at 4am :clap) at Jamieson where we will stay in the pub. Spend the afternoon wandering around Mansfield, Whitfield, Rose Rd to Dandongadale .......... then there are options, if the weather is snotty we'll loop back to Whitfield on the Whitfield lake Buffalo Rd, or we can go further north to Carboor and back to Cheshunt and up Powers lookout which would get us back onto the Whitfield Mansfield Rd.

The idea is to potter around, what we do is weather and road conditions dependent. I don't feel like doing a big skid on clay all afternoon :eek1 I'm not bringing that many changes of underwear as I like to pack light.:deal

I think that caters for everyone? Canary we'll look after you on your big girl, it's half bitumen and the dirt is two wheel drive but if it gets slippery we'll all be wanting to turn around anyway - except Jardine :chace But if we mention "port" and "warm fire", I think that will work???

    Gotta go mud bricking now.

    Hi all,

Jane, thanks sounds like a great plan. We are already booked most weekends in July, but are OK the 23 and 24 June or 28 and 28 July I think the 2nd is out for Jaq I think. Unfortunately our ballet subscription gears up in July and September.

If the last week of June is no good for everyone, and the end of July is too late, then may need to count us out. (AGAIN :-( )Bugger.
