This may seem like a stupid question but, how do you get the spring back in the foot peg. Have tried everything I can think of and chased it across the shop several dozen times. Help.

There are tricks with clamping in a wise or similar while you have a steel wire you can use to force it down until its in place then just cut and remove wire.

Feels like handling a grenade, these are strong little springs.

Screwdriver was possible to use last time but was a struggle, got a thinner screwdriver all the way in place from the underside then while wiggling that out getting pin to take its place, not easy but can be done.

Please use safety glasses these things can really fly!

KTM sells a spring puller just for this purpose. I have suffered like you. I bought one of these it's kinda like a longshoreman's hook but on a small scale. A vice grip might work, a little one.

Thought I was the only one who had that issue before.

After about putting an eye out I used a pair of needle nose vice grips and a small zip tie.

    Cheers

Put the spring in a vice or pliers, zip-tye the spring while compressed, install the peg, pin and spring, cut the zip-tye. Works every time.

KTM doesn't sell a spring puller(?) for this task they sell a factory tool (OEM # 58429083000) for installing the footpeg springs- from the 50cc's all the way to the big boys... (it used to be 990s now it is 1190s)

Take your time, if you don't have the tool. Compress the springs as you insert them down into their home- have the pivot pin in the frame gusset ready to tap it through with a small hammer once you get it down in there.

    Yes, these are strong springs...
