    Hey folks... got wind of this thread and the mention of "helmet lights", from a lil' birdy... Thought I'd chime in, as I saw the below question;

    Ultimately... yes, they are very similar. In fact, it's hard (for us users) to tell the differences among all the China based LED Helmet Lights. ALL of them claim some outlandish output from a CREE LED Chip. In reality, they are about 600-900 lumen across the board (for same/same - light/battery combo)

    The real differences are if they are truly using a CREE XML T6 emitter, and if the build quality of the light will last. Lastly, the batteries.... some people have had problems with them catching fire when recharging. Some even put them outside their home when recharging as a "just in case".

    The one linked in the above post, I have... or almost an exact duplicate. In fact, if you look at a vendors "adventure" light... they are very similar, yet he'll charge over $100 for it. So how do you know?!

    That's kind of my point, you don't know what you have... until it's in your hands, and working (or not). You have to trust the seller, and also understand you 'get what you pay for' in the LED world. And the reviews of that light, linked from Amazon will tell you just exactly the problems you'll encounter when buying cheap'o stuff. Good thing with Amazon (Prime), you can return it and get a full refund.

    I've taken my lumps over the years, and have learned what to buy... and what to stay far away from (when dealing direct with China)! I cover some of that in the SDAR thread. ;)

    China is not a communist country anymore. They are more totalitarian or socialists. Chinese are allowed to make as much money as they want as long as they don't speak or act negatively towards the government.
    I am going back to my cave now.

    I would be interested. Picked one up from Wally World for 25 bucks but the battery life is weak. Descent light, but not meant for helmets.

    We mostly do night rides. Meet at Cook's Corner around 7pm.
    I might be in for tonight if everything falls in place.
