Well I decided to run up and check out the BIG ASS harvest moon packed a couple cold beverages and headed out only saw 1 truck the whole time I stopped at 4 corners pounded a cold one thought for sure I would see some other FFer's but not a one so off to the first hard way lots of trail maintenance needed on all the hard ways I love days like that when the forest that sucks becomes your own private playground hit the rocky road to the top which is missing dirt so I guess you can't call it a dirt road anymore so then hit the fun ways back down kept it short and sweet
See you FFer's next time around

    I like this area. https://goo.gl/maps/8fYJRPsTKRz
Gates were open yesterday. I went up Bedford all the way to Sierra Peak. I saw CNF Law Enforcement up there, but they stated that they were not evacuating as of then. The Canyon 2 fire was not very close to Sierra Peak, but I did see a lot of damage from last weeks Canyon Fire. That fire burnt thru the towers and down into the OC side a litte bit. Lots of bulldozing off on the side of the road on the fire side. Sad.

Good thing about Trabuco at night is you can see the drift racers with their headlights from afar

They're just as slow at night...passed all of 'em with a 10 minute Head start

Stock headlights on a Vstrom are bitchin

I was going to run up to the Husky monument area today but wife had other plans for us this evening so decided to go against my rule of riding on the mountain on a weekend to do some tuning.
Got to for corners and there was a bunch of guys in camo gear and big rifles a couple jeeps pulled up and asked what they were doing I overheard the one guy say they were hunting deer WTF then I hear some shots coming from the north road there was a truck with 2 guys parked on the side of the road shooting what I am guessing was 30-06 or 308 rifles shooting into the canyon toward the maple road they shot about 20 rounds and got back in there truck then drove past 4 corners down maple. So after they passed I went north towards beeks place on the way there was another group of guys about 10 trucks all shooting into another canyon, are all these guys hunting deer at 2:30 in the afternoon I think not deer are active at dusk and dawn there was so many people hiking, mountain biking, jeeping and dual sports it's just a matter of time and someone is going to get shot and the mountain will be closed

Nice, ran into a similar party several years ago halfway between 4 corners and the Golf Ball. Nicest guys in the world; offered us a couple of beers and some carne asada they were grilling up. Although riding away, couldn't shake the feeling I was under somebody's scope at some point.

Any of these guys look familiar.

Yeah. Hunting is legal on most national forests. They're not just for hikers and MTBers.

"No Shooting" isn't the same as "No Hunting".

I went up late morning from N. Main Divide. Didn't see any hunters or hear any shots.

The hunters will be up there for about a month and then will disappear again till next year. I think Nov 12 is their last day up there. Twice I've been up there during hunting season and some deer decide they want to hang out on the trail with me. I hate not knowing if someone has the deer in their scope, or on me. I just try and make myself known and scare the deer away. Yesterday I saw 3-4 trucks/jeeps scouting out locations on the northern side. I ride slowly and wave while passing them and they typically waive back respectfully.

Surprised to see there was no mention of the Wildomar fire in this thread -

Wildomar Fire Burning in Cleveland National Forest in Southwest Riverside County
A brush fire burning near Wildomar and Lake Elsinore grew quickly to 200 acres and was pushing east toward the community of Lakeland Village on Thursday afternoon.

The blaze started within the Wildomar Off-Highway Vehicle area within the Cleveland National Forest, the Forest Service said about 1 p.m. The OHV area is in a rugged part of the Santa Ana Mountains in southwest Riverside County.

    https://patch.com/california/lakeelsinore-wildomar/wildomar-area-brush-fire-reported

An 18-year-old Ladera Ranch man was riding a 2001 Yamaha off-road motorcycle in the Wildomar OHV area, about 10 to 11 miles south of the Ortega Highway, when he hit a bump on a dirt trail, lost control and crashed into a tree, CHP Officer Mike Lassig said.

"It mangled up the motorcycle and the throttle was being twisted and he couldn't shut [the motorcycle] off," Lassig said.

Meanwhile, the Yamaha was leaking fuel on the ground nearby.

"The heat coming from the motorcycle's high revving RPM caused the ignition of the gasoline which was leaking from the crash," Lassig said.

The man tried to put the fire out by hand at first, but quickly realized it was spreading too rapidly for him to control, Lassig said. He ran to his truck, about 2 to 3 miles away, to get his cellphone and then get reception to call the fire in.

Whoops. Hope that doesn’t get the area shut down to off roaders.

Wow that sucks...those 426's headers would glow red hot too

Short of carrying a fire extinguisher, kicking dirt, and pouring water on top, what else can you do?

Sucks! Another excuse for long-term closures.
