I'm like 800 miles from the loast coast...I'm in northern WA. I've actually been on Usal Rd with my parents in a rental car when I was like 10...but I didn't hit it on this trip.

I rode Mattole Road, and it was pretty, but SO bumpy. If I were to ride that again, I'd want something more like dirt bike suspension. I seriously was worried I'd bent a rim a couple times.

When I was 18 my dad gave me a one-way ticket to Alaska for my graduation present,I had never been anywhere by myself or on an airplane.I got a summer job and worked my way home.

Now I'm 60 and it was still my greatest adventure, your going to remember this fondly someday and realize how it helped shape your life more than you can ever imagine.Good luck kid.

Big congrats on completing your epic adventure. Your ride report is for sure one of the better ones on this forum. Your attitude and humanity are to be admired. I took my son on a trip to Crater Lake when he was your age. Now he has plans on bigger rides so the bug has been planted. Keep us posted on your future adventures.

Congratulations on completing your epic and inspiring trip, Jesse!

I, and many older folks on this site, have been inspired by your determination and courage in taking off on a 7500 mile trip across our country on a 38 year old motorcycle. While many of us dreamed of taking such a trip when we were in high school, few of us actually did it. Family, college, or other commitments got in the way so we put it off for another day.

You've had some wonderful experiences and adventures along the way, and I suspect that the lessons learned on this trip will stay with you for life. As others have said, you'll look back on this trip with pride and affection when you're older. You'll also likely inspire other young people to set out on an adventure like yours.

I hope this adventurous spirit stays with you as your life journey continues.

If you're ever in SoCal, give me a call.

I so hope your right! I've offered to pay for both my sons (20 and 21) safety courses for the last couple years but so far haven't taken me up on it.

I may force them to read this RR to let them know the great opportunity that their letting get away and the amazing people that will drop everything to lend a hand to a willing youth.

Been following along for the whole trip Jesse. I wouldn't have changed that tire either. Good luck on your next adventure.

Thanks for all the encouragement and kind words everyone. It sure makes it worth putting in the effort to write the report.

I'm somewhat interested in reporting my other adventures, but I don't think this is an appropriate place to do that, just because I don't think they'll all be on motorcycles :lol3

Awesome ride report, you definitely lived up to the forums title; epic rides!

I have a feeling you will be upgrading to a dual sport in the near future and checking out some of those dirt roads you passed on the way...

    Looking forward to more rr's

Hey guys, Larry from Sacramento on the CX500 forum convinced me that I should do a report on the Alaska trip on that forum, even though it's not motorcycle related. If y'all are interested, I'll post that up here as well. It'll be an after the fact kind of thing...

hey guy... been keeping up and keeping you in our prayers for a safe journey, your last note... was all telling... that you got comfortable... in being alone, trusting yourself, and relaxing on the bike... most people hold on too tight..... to too many things... great life lesson ... pass it on
    Cheers

This was a great report..and I'm not gonna call ya a kid. Perfect time of life to make some really good memories and friends. And to trust the old Honda to get you across country.
This is another inspiration for me to get my boy out on the road when he is old enough to make a trip with his "old man". And to encourage him to do his own solo trips.

    Thanks Man! Great RR!
