A buddy and I rode the Colorado Backcountry Discovery Route this weekend. We had a great time of course, but if you are planning on riding it in the near future, be advised that the section between Stagecoach Reservoir and Lake Catamount is closed until June 30th. You just have to take CR 14 to bypass it. Also, north of Steamboat Springs, CR 19 that routes you east on the north side of Hahn's Peak is also closed right now. You just need to continue on CR 129 to bypass. And the last bit of closure info is that the one water crossing through Rock Creek on CR 16 was impassable on June 1st. The water level was too high to safely get across. The good part is that none of these closings cost much of the ride. The bypasses are quick and not out of the way. My buddy got his DR Half way across and luckily stopped on a sand bar to survey the rest of the crossing. The depth dropped off to about 2.5-3 ft which was too risky for our blood. The worst that came if it is that he rode with soaked feet until Steamboat.
