I was heading to town for a meeting, so I utilized some time doing this in the Tucson area. PM me when you want to ride.

You got some skills. I don't think I'd handle my BRP as gracefully as you seem to manage on those rocky trails.

is there a road along the border from Sirea Vista to Nogalas or is it blocked by the base/wilderness. And is there a ghost town south of Patagonia. I might be in that area next weekend but not sure yet and I cant seem to find any of my maps of that area.

there are several ghost towns out there... lots to see.

as to the road... past lochiel (and before nogales) there is a section that is very very steep and covered in rocks the size of tennis balls. i tried it on an r1200gs and deemed it too dangerous to mortal man. Like "theres no way to do it except raw speed and the crash would be horrible" dangerous. i dont know whats past that section. you should find out and post pics!

It looks like I am going to turn south off of 92 onto Coronado Memorial rd, and that road heads west to Parker lake.
I am going to be on my XR650L

I am mostly looking for stuff I haven’t seen before, I like exploring back roads and trails, Dozers, mines, rocks, cactus, flowers and whatever. I have spent a lot of time of a motorcycle trials bike, I am not very fast but I can climb almost anything.
I have been through parker lake to Nogales and Patagonia to Tubac. I would like to explore the area more, if you have any ideas I am all ears.:ear

On my drive to work this morning, (twenty six minutes of dirt) all I could think of was how good the traction was even in the one ton.

Anyone like to ride on Sunday?

I heard it was warmer here in Maine this morning. :D

I think we still have more snow though . . . that's my daughter's car sticking out of the snow drift last Saturday. :lol3

I rode today. Crazy as a burning duck in a tornado. Now I know what a Walmart bag feels like in a hurricane. Tomorrow will be a cage day. I don't have snow studs for either of the bikes...:rofl

We got one of those, too. If there is significant snow (read 2 inches) on the pavement, they may close the county for the day (or until it melts). It's happened once while I was here.

It was only a little windy on the way home :lol3

I flew back here today and got a blizzard warning on my phone about an hour after I arrived! Not what I was hoping for, but the temps sure felt good today - it was 25F when I left Maine this morning and we still have a couple feet of snow on the ground there.

D, I still have those disks of our July ride in my truck somewhere...I fear they might be scratched at this point, but we could see. Let me know.

This is actually my second trip out here in the past month. I left ME on an R1100GS on January 19th and arrived in AZ eight days and 3,400 miles later after stopping in FL for three days to visit my other brother. I was here for a little over a week, but didn't have much time for riding, though I did take a couple short last minute rides. I spent a few days helping my brother with some things, did a complete service on the DR650, including steering stem bearings, and had a few other things to do to get ready for a trip to Baja with my wife.

I flew back to ME for a couple weeks and this time I brought my wife out with me for the first time. She's the reason for the GS - we're heading to Baja in a couple days after I get some new tires on it and take a little test ride to make sure we're all set.

We'll be flying back to ME on March 11th, but we'll probably be in Baja most of the time if all goes well. One of these days I'd love to get out for a ride with you guys again.

lightfighter - Can't thank you enough for showing me around the first time I came out here last year. That really helped me get off to a great start exploring southeast AZ. I've ridden through Montezuma Pass so many times since then I've lost count - still love it. And, I've been back to Gathering Grounds in Patagonia several times - love that place!
