Speaking of tires, anyone interested in a set of Tourance EXP with less than 500 miles on them? If I can get a taker I will order my more dirt oriented tires.
    110/80R19M/C 59V
    150/70R17M/C 69V
Also have some yamaha brand saddlebags($10), a pair of aftermarket turn signals($5). And for a drz 06(which i think covers 02 to 08) I have a lowering kit($10) and a set of wolfman luggage racks according to info will fit BMW F/G 650 SINGLE, HONDA XR650L, KAWASAKI KLR650 07 AND OLDER, KTM 950SE, SUZUKI DRZ400S & SM, YAMAHA WR250R) a unused oil filter.
I will check the box for anything else im getting rid of as well

Gonna be in the sierra vista area for 2 days and will have my 990 with me. I know nothing about the area, but saw on google earth that there's two peaks (miller and Ballard) nearby and tombstone.

I can figure out how to see tombstone, but can any locals here give me the short story on riding those couple of peaks (day rides)? Where the trail heads are, type of riding, etc?

I'd mostly be interested in road that spans the peaks end to end, not necessarily a loop. I'm looking to cover miles, not challenge myself, since I'll be by myself.

Or, can someone here tell me where to find this stuff out? Any good mc shops in SV that could give me the low down.

    Thanks for any tips.

when you gonna be down here, and how long do you want to ride?
mammoth to benson, benson to patagonia on 83, patagonia to sv on duquesne rd to parker canyon, either ft huachuca(hi viz vest, gloves, boots, helmet required) or south on montezuma canyon rd.
tombstone, middle march east to 191, then to 181, then right turn just before monument onto pinery canyon road over the chiricahuas, then north to i 10 to north 191, top of mt graham.
there are alot of camping in the area, or hotels, let me know what your general plans are and i'll see if i can get the high points to you.

carr canyon is a short dirt road ride, couple of nice overlooks. middle march is a dirt road east from tombstone with some history.
best peaks for riding are chiricahuas and mt graham by safford.
patagonia south to hereford/sv has some good flatland views, montezuma pass has a nice view.

    Thx for all the info.

Will be interested in riding all day thurs and all day fri. No trail camping or anything, just want to ride and see cool stuff.

Basically, our hotel in SV is where I'll be 'reporting' back to in the evening. Girlfriend and I are coming to SV cuz she has some work training to attend. I'm just coming along to try to ride some new areas.

Thx for all the help. I'll be trying to put it all together tonight, driving back currently from coral pink sand dunes/kanab, Utah. Hopefully I have as good a time in SV as I had in Utah.

I have a ton of gps tracks for the areas surrounding Sierra Vista - it took a lot of riding to get them, but I thoroughly enjoyed every mile. I stay at the base of the Huachuca Mountains when I'm in town. There's fantastic riding all around that area. For two great day trips I'd suggest the Santa Rita's and the Chiricahua's. I've got great gps routes to loop you through those area - pm me if you're interested. Pics and info on the rides in those areas in the RR in my sig.

Ok, kokuban sent me 3 GPS files. Very generous. I think I'm going to pick two of them (1 for each day) and and go ride those as opposed to freestylin' it.

I'll put it all together tonight and tomorrow and then be able to hit the ground runnin' when I get to SV.

Thx to kokuban and acdfan for the help and pointers, I'll give a small ride report here next week to letcha know how it went.

    Thx again!

Well, I'm bummed to say gf's work related trip to SV is cancelled. I went from not wanting to go to excited to go due to your help in this thread.

Oh well, I'm saving kokuban's GPS tracks and notes and will ride there when she gets rescheduled for another time.

You never know, maybe it got cancelled for a reason.

Bummer. Hopefully you'll get another chance - get in touch with me next time when you're headed there and maybe I'll be in town and we can ride one or more of those tracks together. There's so much great riding around that area it would be worth taking a trip down there for a few days just to ride around if you get the chance. :deal

It was really nice there in October last year. Mid-winter is nice too, but you might not be able to ride the higher elevations like the Chiricahua's due to snow above 6-7k ft in Jan/Feb.

fall riding, around october, is just plain awesome down here.
I sent you a pm before I read your trip was cancelled, so disregard.
There's good camping sept/oct and you could stay in a different mountain range on a three night trip.

I'll definitely plan on coming down around October regardless of her work related stuff.

Thing is, everything was going to be paid for, except for motorcycle gas money.

See ya boys around oct. and thx again for the help.

Alright, I never got my summer ride in...stupid life getting in the way...

So, gonna do a mostly (entirely?) pavement ride Labor Day weekend. Thinking of going up 191 to 180. Stay over at the Petrified Forest National Park. Do the park and then the crater btwn Winslow and Mormon Lake the next day. Maybe stay the night up by Mormon Lake. Then take 87 to 188 to 77 to I-10 to SV.

I have a guy from work on a Super Tenere who's riding too. Won't be able to do much dirt with him. He's new to the adventure bike thing. Might even show up wearing his old pirate outfit, he's so new. :D

    Anyone else interested?

Proud new owner of a 2010 Ducati Multistrada 1200S Touring. I'm going to be picking it up in the Tri-Cities area of Washington state sometime in late August. This will be a big change from my previous bikes so I'm not completely sure of the true off-roadability of this bike but broken bones heal and scratches buff out.

Anybody out there have one of these? I'd be interested in your opinions. Can't wait to be back in the game.

    See you out there. :clap

Labor Day will be right around a shift change for me, so my days off will likely change. I'll take a look at the calendar at work when I go back from vacation Sunday.

I may be on at least riding up 191 to the first camp, then back for a fall ride.
I also have to find out what my days off will be for sept/oct/nov/dec before i can plan.
my august ride is already out the door with a schedule change for august.
I've not ridden or seen a multistrada but it looks like it would do well on dirt road touring. I've had good experience with the tourance tires so far, but i think i will be getting a more aggressive tread. I sure would like to see the multistrada when you get it. riding it back I assume?
