The bikes have just been distributed to the other basterds. My bike is in the shop getting some 'handlebar clamp recall' done. Will have it later this week.

As for the work....it's coming. I'm working lots of hours at my day job which is making progress difficult. Most of the parts are finally coming in so I should be able to get off the ground over the next couple weeks.

There's also a couple feet of snow in the yard.

First thing will be getting the initial break-in done. Since I prefer the 'ride it like you stole it' approach, that won't take long.

First mods will be RR tanks, cannisterectomy and exhaust - in addition to those considered essential for the beast.

Could be. I'll need to check that out.

The dealer has been telling me since Jan that the bike was arriving any time. In march they told me that they had confirmation from the shipper and that it would be arriving any day, probably by Friday. They said this week after week. Then in April they told me that they had confirmation that the bike had arrived on the east coast and was on it's way west. Then last week I was told that it had arrived in the port of Montreal. Yesterday they tell me that KTM had released the bike and it was on a truck.

Get a move on with those pics, my 2011 is dying for some mods. Took the same approach to running in. Picked it up on a Saturday, then took a 750km ride on the Sunday

Thanks man. Unfortunately the subscribed updates don't come up as I edit the initial posts where all the info is.

For all those waiting, check out the first page. Again, thanks for everyone's patience.

Great thread Barton. I actually like the idea of using the consecutive posts at the beginning like you did, saves having to look through tons of pages to find the relevant info.

Keep it up and this will become the reference thread for 690 noobs! :clap

Hey Jim, I picked up one about 2 months ago. I havn't been out on it much since the rides have been more suited for the 450.

It's a cool ride, and I am looking forward to riding it much more.

Great thread! Thanks for the writeups! I'm looking forward to the reviews of the various pieces!

For anyone installing rally tanks in the future, based on my recent install: if at any point things aren't fitting easily. Stop. Take your time. Back up as many steps as necessary to get the right fit. There are a lot of things to get routed and lined up correctly and failing to get it perfect in one step can leave you frustrated several steps down the process.

Looking forward to all the details in this thread. You're using a lot of parts that I've researched and am saving for. Can't wait to see the completed product!

Thanks for all the encouragement guys. I'll keep adding as we go.

Just added a few reviews and added some more info about our Rally Raid tank experience.

Just bought a new/leftover 2010 KTM690R. It still only has about 60 miles on it. Finding your build-up on here is a real gift. I appreciate that you put it in such a useable order.

Question: it appears that you only did the FMF muffler, or did you replace the entire exhaust?
