We're happy to play in the big leagues, it makes victory sweeter.

Is that the SEC poll?

Um, was yesterday the greatest day EVER?
I never left the Gator Nation. I always pull for UF. I just really (really, really) dislike Muschamp.
See post 999 for affirmation.
I would add to the list of positive news that Spurrier (our greatest Gator, after-all) dominated Georgia again. If Florida can't beat the cocks this year, despite Jurgen's derision, I will indeed be pulling for him to win it all....though do hope it's the Gators in Atlanta instead.
It was a successful day for all of the head coaches who use to lead UF:
In addition to SOS, Meyer, Strong, Mullen and Adazio all won. I really like what's happening Lousiville these days.
Granted, his popularity is at an all time high, but I think he's here to stay. You might have to make peace with this.
Great win for SOS. The old man still has it. Really impressed by Charlie Strong.
For the first time ever, my team is out performing my expectations. Great to see it, but I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. There's still a lot of football left to be played.
Alabama is still the team to beat.
No question, BUT the East is back.

No, but I did stay at a holiday inn express.
I don't know about that. Oregon, is the team I wouldn't want to play.
Hopefully the Championship game will be inter-regional this year and we can find out.
Oregon-Alabama is the game I'd be voting for. Much more physical team than the one Auburn beat.
My choice at this time would be Oregon or West Virginia vs. the SEC champ.......
Alabama would wear them down....the same way Auburn did in the NC. The same way LSU did.
I recall this article from last year...from an unlikely source, the WSJ. You might enjoy LSU's approach to their game. Saban's smart enough to out together a great plan, no doubt.
honestly if the season was over tomorrow i think the best BCS matchup with be south carolina & bama. O would probably beat WVU, but that would be a fun track meet.
from watching them. i think bama's third string defense would match up well with big O's offense for a quarter.
here's why oregon wont beat alabama or (insert the best SEC defense here) for the foreseeable future. with regards specifically to bama, the defense doesn't operate like west coast & spread defenses. those are built to slow fast teams down a couple times a game. the big SEC defenses are built to pound all game & have the reserves to keep people fresh no matter how long they stay on the field. their speed is equal to any of the WR's they face.
the run stoppers (DT and covered DE) are big enough to blow up the fast offensive lines all game, BUT NOT fast enough get to the mobile qb/rb all game. That is not as good as it seems on the surface!
they are DRILLED to not over rush & will raise up & blow up about every center screen and shovel pass you want to try to sneak by them
the OLB and uncovered DE are VERY well coached not to get upfield of the QB's and create running lanes. if you see it twice a game watching an alabama game it's a really bad day.
that makes screen passes, shovels & read option plays very difficult against them. it also makes you throw a lot more quick passes because pressure is coming and you're not going to shake & bake all day on bootlegs
gimmicks only last so long before adjustments are made.
can the big 2-3 defenders inside deal with a wide open spread? no, they're not fast enough, but the net effect is that they still take a lot of staple plays off their style of offense's backups are... and you can always go into the very deep depth chart if you want speed on speed...
on the offensive side, alabama is loosing players & the offense will suffer for it, but the fact remains the defense they are . an H back is out, the starting FB is out, the like fifth string HB is out... still, its likely most teams they would play against outside the SEC won't match up to them physically once BAMA's pounded it until the second/third strings are in the game.
people elsewhere joke, but ANYBODY's first string can match up against anybody else's first string. The game is won by what happens when half the starting defense or offense is on the bench catching some pickle juice. The better SEC teams you don't have a dropoff between 1st 2nd string & physically behind them is just as good (the coaching drops off) the longer those power offenses sit with the ball the better. even not scoring applies pressure to a speed offense that is held in check. not going to wear down a defense if they're not on the field!
is bama #1, ya
have they played anybody, no
are they a good team with issues, yes (IMO major pending offensive issues if the backup FB.H back/Blocking TE go out)
will they play a lot of tough games? yes
so well all find out in time (just like finding out if O can beat usc a couple times and stanferd. i think they will, but its why we play the game!)
i just wish more teams played solid defense. too many teams can score 70+ against the children of the poor & then can't put up 17 against a man's defense.
You might want to take a nap at halftime...this shit's about to get real...
