It's getting to be that time of year when some of us start thinking about heading out West to ride during the summer months, particularly in the Rockies. Here are a couple threads from the RM section that are relevant if you're considering it.

The first is local knowledge of do's and don'ts, the why's and wherefore's.

    http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1059236

The next is for trail reports of the Salida/ Buena Vista/ Sargents area, one that's become increasingly popular. It also shows how much work some of these local guys do for everyone else that visits. Those of us that do can't thank them enough.

This would be a good reference to have a sticky keep it at the top of this forum.

    Good stuff, thanks Bill.

It's beyond me, probably takes a moderator, plus it is just a seasonal thing. ??

I thought we'd just throw up a pic every now and then to keep it on the top half of the page. I think we've got a few. :evil

check the rockies subforum for reference material :thumb

there's also several active threads in the sandbox referring to cross country colorado trips.

and heres my advice: JUST DO IT!

you really can't go wrong, and you won't be disappointed if you dont get to ride this one trail... the whole state (cept extreme east) is postcard views anywhere ya look. if you can afford the time, do like I did my first CO trip - make a loop of it - I came in from texas, hit the alamosa area, back to co springs, up to denver/rampart, up to ft collins/estes park, I70 to leadville, to vail, then to grand junction, MOAB, paradox, ouray, gunnison...

only thing I would add is a stint from ouray to durango on the million dollar hwy. which I have done since :deal

all of these places have amazing riding. check out staythetrail.org for more info on that. :ricky

I'll add a few pics from my visit with Bill. I rode the eastern TAT to Salida, then got to visit for a couple days before turning east. Thanks again Bill for the good times.

Good times for sure Kenny, wish you coulda stayed longer. Caleb came back the next weekend and we did some more fun stuff. I'll get pics up when there's better internet, probably in a few days.

That ride down to N.M. bordered on epic for me, glad we figured it out at the last minute, have wanted to pre-ride it for some time now. Loved the section you found from Saguache to Carnero Pass rd, gotta work that into the route.
