We both remembered this spot from previous trips so we dicked around and took some photos going both ways.

Couldn't ask for a nicer day.

there was even some curvy pavement

but mostly just wide open spaces

Stopped in Del Norte for gas and had a burger on the east end, pretty good one too.

    So we continued south

we were sort of in the middle of the road checking out the intersection when this guy came around a blind curve with a head of steam, a little scary..

    them ain't Florida pine trees.

Besides the road grader guy he was about the the only peeps we saw all day.

Well we did run into a group of 4 or 5 guys on adv bikes (all from different places), but got to talkin with 'em and I forgot to take a picture : )

I didn't know it until the other day talking to a local but this is called Indiana Pass and isn't identified on hardly any maps.

Next stop, Summitville. The sign said it is a superfund site, we didn't stop.

I just read somewhere it is the largest environmental disaster in the U.S.

I think it was a gold mine.

    Anyway, on to greener pastures..

We got down to Hwy. 17 and parted ways, Kenny went south to Chama and Taos and I went back north to Antonito. Just an excellent day and and a stellar riding companion, thanks again Kenny!

Love these CO threads, especially the pix with the white stuff and dreaming is right. 53' right now in Buena Vista. Uber ready for a respite from the heat. Historically by the second week in October we get a morning below 70' - can't get here soon enuff.

High above Telluride on Imogene Pass, ran into the plow at 13,000. He was hustling to open up for July 4th.

Just a switchback away from the summit. Surprisingly good traction in the slush?

It is that time again, Dave (Day13) and I will be heading out soon. On the way we hope to hit a few sections of the New Mexico BDR if the weather looks good. We've been working on the toyhauler rig (our version of the ADV ministries bus but more homey, we're living out of it). The plan is to camp in one or two spots and do out and back loops of several sections. Then head up to Colorado and hope most the snow has melted, we'll see. There's a few things on the agenda once there.

I never did finish the ride pics of Imogene Pass last year so here are some.

Downtown Ouray, it really looks like this, the whole town is on an angle : )

For the most part it was okay until near the top then then it was bad. I think it's only got 18-20hp, was jetted for sea level, and I'd gone one tooth bigger on the counter to deal with the hwy miles. Bad combination for Imogene! On the two steepish climbs near the top I'd pin it (4500 was @ max rpm's from no air) slip the clutch in 1st and hope for the best. It was close but it made it.

Are you back from out west? Got any pics?

A few of you know I've been working on a big dirt loop in Co. the last few years, actually the past eight I just didn't know it then : )

On the way in I needed to ride a couple roads near the NM border.

This is the last bridge across the Rio Grande in Co. I don't think there's another one until Taos, NM

There's just two other roads I haven't been on and they're at the opposite corner, almost in Utah. Here's a teaser, hopefully will have better internet tomorrow.
