It's proper to turn on your left turn signal to indicate to the driver in front of you you wish to overtake. However I have never in my life seen another vehicle respond to that....

Most don't understand the points system for the right of way. You get one point for every pound of your vehicle (kg in metric areas...the proportions stay the same). If the vehicle that wants to pass has more RoW points due to their greater weight, let them pass. Equal points vehicles with the louder horn get a bonus point.

I have. Takes em a bit to catch on tho.

...it seems to be 'less aggressive' than flashing the high beams.

    :dunno

Regardless, if someone has to tell you to move, you're DHUA. :nod

I dunno why, but when I drive my car, I rage. Yell, scream, tell them they're number one.

I get on my bike, and nothing can phase me. I am zen.

I've only seen people move over for blinkers and flashed lights in Europe.

A lot of people in the U.S. won't move over, even when the lights being flashed at them are red and blue :nono

My daily idiot award goes to the guy in the big dark gray Dodge truck jamming around in morning traffic, never signalling and making repeated bad lane changes seemingly at random and generally driving like a jerk - with three large faith-based stickers on the window and JOHN 3:3 on the bumper and vanity plate.

    Nice.

In the US flashing your lights is often interpreted as antagonistic.

Any interaction is usually considered antagonistic here.

The most common thing down here is that the left lane is for cruising, and the right is for passing, apparently.

Never, ever make eye contact. To do so is either a direct challenge or admitting defeat.

Riding in this AM. Car cuts in front of me. Not much more than a few feet between front tire and the bumper.

I back off and there staring at me is a big orange "start seeing motorcycles" bumper sticker. Must be on there for priority parking at the local biker bar.

Today's fun road debris: in some S-turns, the clear/white lid to a plastic lid to a plastic 55-gallon drum. Not much traction THERE....

Passed a cop with his blue lights on parked on the side of the road after giving a citation I presume. I honk as I go past and point behind me at the asshole riding 20 feet off my back tire. Guy backs up quiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick. Cop didn't do anything, oh well.

    That's funny.

I had a punter wander into my lane about a foot or so while he was texting yesterday.

I honked and pointed at him (angrily).

Next light, unbeknownst to me, there was a police cruiser first in line, watching this happen!

Straightened him out for a bit.

Funny thing was that I was off to the dealership for an INS claim for another dumb cager incident...

    Overpopulation? :huh
