    Hmmm... nice pics...

I did Sardinia and Corsica solo in 03. Those white cliffs coming into the southern port are unforgettable.

Brings back memories and stirs the wanderlust......

Great pics, I'd really like to go there. Where did you get the ferry from and how much did it cost? Did you pre-book it or just turn up on the day? What did you do for accommodation? Sorry, for all the questions but, as I say I really fancy making the trip.

    All the best

    Hi,

I went from Frankfurt/Main Germany, over Grenoble (France) to Nice (France) in 2 days, alltogether some 1200 km. Then ferry Nice-Calvi (78 Euro) and then 5 full days riding on Corsica. Return was the next weekend with the ferry Bastia-Livorno (Italy, 45 E). It is cheaper if you book ferry few weeks in advance over the Internet ( http://www.corsicaferries.com/Pcorsica.srv ) Then I rode to my friend in Locarno (Switzerland) and next day was final return home.

Appartment with swimming pool and jacuzzi was only 320 E/week at this time of the year. It is 6 times more in full season. Weather was fantastic, not too hot, sunny and dry all the time. Island is great for bikers. Among the best destinations in EU.

Thanks very much for taking the time to reply. I was looking around the internet last night for ferries. They held the Krauser Rally in Corsica a few years ago and I keep getting told how good a place it is.

    Cheers

Hmmmm, so that is what I'm going to see in a few weeks. Nice!

I take it your apartment was in a central location and close enough to regions so that you can spend time exploring them in detail, or would you make a home base at two or three locations to do that? At the moment, I've got a few accomodations picked across the island.

My wife and 11 month old son was also there, not riding, of course, so we stayed at one location. If I were alone, tent and sleeping bag will do. Also, staying at different locations for a few days might be a great solution.

Corsica is an amazing place. I hiked and climbed in the mountains or 7 summers between '81 and '87 there - really miss the place, but living half a world away makes the return visits quite difficult.

The roads are near-sucicidal there - if a big rock happened to lay in the patch of the road builders, they just paved around it. In the US they'd use a few tons of dynamite to make roads straight and safe (and boring...)

I just got back from 8 days in Corsica, part of my six week tour here.

Simply incredible riding. I know I will be back to Corsica for more riding in the future.
