    Well ...that's a good one too...but..
I was referring to when you found a dirt hill from cat logging off Woods Creek Rd that looked like fun to ride up...
except the man followed you into the woods and ...reminded you there was no off road riding up there.
So easy to get sucked into the notation you can ride, bike or cage anywhere you want based on the advertisement from vehicle sales.
If it's not rocked or paved on this side of the Cascades, be prepared to talk to the man.

Hahahahahahaa. Just wait till one of us lets you hop on a 690/500exe/650x and you'll think your scrambler is a lump too! I loved my KLR until Zoob let me ride his 500exc. Some bikes are just plain easier to huck around on dirt and gravel. At least the Triumph is a solid on road bike, unlike my old Kawi. My advice: dont ride anything else off pavement until you can afford two bikes!

"Why do ya gotta be like that?"

    Harrrrrrr M8...that's 2 funny...

Try a 230 pound 2 smoker with real knobbies ...light years from the mid size 650's...much less a street bike, 'cuse that what that twin is..

    I yam what I yam....

In a way you do not know yet...I am looking out for you....Hoppy.

I only occasionally look at this thread, but the whole exchange above is pretty fucking disheartening to read. Reminds me of some junior high bullshit.

Lump is an old brit term for the engine.

Hoprunner, if you ever have a hooky day mid-week, I'll show you some major routes to the coast.

    Yo Hoprunner,

    Sorry if I offended you.
    Was not my intent.
Very hard to tell how much m/c experience one has on these message boards at first glance.
Carry on, have fun, play safe.

This forum is similar to the long line of people waiting to get through security at the airport. Most of the folks you won't know or don't care to know. Many are completely different that you, but you share a common interest (getting on an airplane/motorcycle). You may strike up a conversation with a like-minded soul that makes your day or get annoyed by someone with a bad attitude (at the moment).....you stay in line and make your flight because the destination is what's important.

Many different personalities inhabit this realm.....that's what keeps it interesting.

Well put, RideAbout. I don't have to defend HopRunner and don't even have a dog in this fight. I just felt bad for the guy after reading the condescending crap from the D's Killer and Digger. The guy just wants to ride his bike in the woods and ask legitimate questions, not have the 'too cool for school' dudes tell him he's out of his element for not riding a KTM 500exc or whatever. He'll find another PNW thread that'll be a little more accepting, to be sure.

    Hey Trip,

Were trying to keep a new guy alive down here.
The new guy can get hurt / stuck where he wants to ride his 600lb+ scrambler and will not be found for days / weeks.
And, no, he will not want to take his 600lb+ scrambler all the places we take our DS bikes.
We are not Starbuck riders down here, thank you very much.
Must be kind of boring up your way, eh?

Well that's mighty self aggrandizing of you and it looks like Hop got the point. I was just calling you out for the condescending manner in which you tried to make that point. Nuance, humor, and genuine concern can be hard to convey in text, and either you did it poorly or you weren't even trying.

Yep, the weather sucks up here and I'm a little bored at work. :thumb

Yep on poorly wrote... for some readers...
I catch shit all the time, use to it, got thick skin.
I am in good company with KillerD. :D:D:D
Would rather error on the safe side rather than be caught sitting on my hands watching disasters happen.
Most of my hobbies / work back ground, can and will cause bodily injury or kill a person.
I take them seriously, and get concerned with others I don't know...partly so they don't take me out.

Had to look that one up...yep, it works Bragging Rights...I like that. Hard earned I might add. As in school of hard knocks.

    Boasting (redirect from Self-aggrandizing)
Boasting is to speak with excessive pride and self-satisfaction about one’s achievements, possessions, or abilities. This is also known as "bragging rights"

    If only that were true.

RIders from Seattle aren't gonna take you out on the Alsea highway.

You have to look at what you post up here through the eyes of your audience first, BEFORE you hit the send button, because those are the eyes reading your stuff. Your style of telling them don't work, it just documents your poor judgementalism.

This place is not the local pub, the audience here is way smarter than you and me, keep that in mind.

Stop diggering/documenting yourself into a deeper hole based on your perceptions of safety, we don't buy it.

Start seeing this stuff from the broader perspective that this amazing global interface offers, it has so much to offer.

Gives me no pleasure to write this, known you a long time. But if you're gonna screw up here, you might as well be told here.

Well said, HellsAlien. They've lost at least two customers already. Seems the "D's" need some schooling on how to create a welcoming environment if they want ADVers as customers. I stopped by Flat Tail last summer on a ride, but never will again. The PNW is full of great breweries that understand how to cultivate business and not belittle their prospective customers.
