We last rode in CR 9 years ago, so we made arrangements to rent Suzuki DR650's in San Jose and try to visit locations that were new to us.

    Day 1:
San Jose to Cartago, to Tierra Blanca, to Volcano Irazu, Then over to Pacayas, Guayabo for Lunch 2018-01-25 14.40.31 HDR-2.jpg 2018-01-25 12.34.19.jpg

Sweet! Pics are a huge teaser, do you have more? What was the riding like, mostly dirt, half dirt, etc? Are either of you fluent in Spanish, or how was the language barrier?

Would love to get down there and ride, have heard Costa Rica is simply stunning and full of great people.

Thanks for the RR, definitely up for more!

Day four is a personal fave! Fairly certain I saw you two righteous dudes tinkering one morning outside the Fiesta Casino while I was on my way to the office.

I'm with @liv2day and what he said ^^^, more please.

    We left
We rented from a place called Wild Rider in San Jose, we had a great experience 9 years ago with brand new bikes, the DR 650's we had on this trip were pretty beat, but still functional. $80.00 USD per day. Good guys to work with, Thomas & Thorsten are the owners

We tried to make it 50/50 on Dirt/Pavement, but it was probably only 40% Dirt, still way fun! We ride in Baja 2-3 times a year, so we have some broken Spanish skills, you can get by with limited Spanish. Yes - the people of CR are fantastic!! They are very proud of their country, and they are very "clean" I know that sounds funny, but like basic sanitary functions, clean food, silverware, etc.... We ate a ton of food there, Steak Seafood, Chicken, everything with no issues. CR is a must for any ADV or Dual Sport rider......

    Day 5:
We wanted to make sure we got back to San Jose with ample time to return the bikes and get to our Hotel, so we basically bee-lined it from Puntarenas, back thru El Roble, San Mateo, La Garita and into San Jose.
Before leaving Puntarenas we found a drunk guy (8AM) to take our picture with the Pier in the background, ironically just after taking our Pic, we realized that he was a Taxi driver, getting ready to load up some passengers!

    A few more random Pics:
    1. We stickered up the Chicken delivery kids bike
    2. Limes - They have Limes that are Orange inside, taste pretty much the same, but it's just funny
    3. Silverware - At many restaurants they deliver your Silverware in plastic bags - it a Health regulation thing..... 2018-01-28 12.59.00.jpg

We are headed there in 12 days. Picking up bikes from Wild Rider. What did you use for GPS and maps on the GPS?
