    Nice!Nice, nice!
I did the same sort of trip in reverse when I turned 50 four years ago. I was solo, though in January and early February. The bike was a XT 600 rented from Thorsten at Wild Rider.
I glad to see Costa Rica is still beautiful and enjoyable, I had zero problems and a great time while there also.
Anyway great report , makes me want to return.

Yah, if you keep walking south along Paseo Colon it turns to a cobblestone walkway for pedestrians. I never did figure out what was actually happening here. We thought it may be a local radio personality on the stage to the left. He was talking so fast I never got any of it. But it sure had the crowd mesmerized and laughing for quite a while. There were a ton of people out and I don't know it this is normal or not.

Thanks all for the compliments....it makes it worth doing.

I'm off to CR on the 23rd, two up, and I've booked with Wild Rider. Our route will cover some of the same territory so the report was really helpful.:clap

    A couple questions:

    1) Any one place (area) you were at where you wish you had the time to spend another day?

    2) Accomodation - we are there over Christmas, so it could be busy and I haven't made a booking except the arrival departure days; did you have any problems getting a room?

    Thanks

MCP...I remember you from the L.A. thread. If the weather is good, I personally like the mountains the best. Most fun riding. My only minor regret is not having enough time to do the "pass of death" The road that leads from Dominical which is south of Quepos, back up into the mountains... 11,000' to San jose. We were gonna do it, but didn't have enough time to get back if we did. Thorsten will point out some nice areas there, which we never got to. But aside from that, the Monteverde area was a place I could spend more time.

Christmas is a busy time there I'm told, it will certainly be harder to find places to stay, but I would run this by Thorsten and get his opinion. It would be too bad to have to be somewhere every night.

Got it, and our first day takes us south - 11,000 ft.

    thanks again

The road from Dominical to Perez Zeledon (San Isidro) is cool. And so is the ride from PZ to San José. I think on a motorcycle I'd try to do this earlier in the day rather than late in the afternoon. Lots of fog possible and it can get chilly as you pass through Cerro de la Muerte.

My wife and I plan on spending a month, two-up, in Mexico during the first quarter of 2010. We will be on our R1100GS.

I was wondering how your wife liked all the pictures of the Costa Rican "scenery" on her 25th anniversary ride report?

Great pictures and report. Congrats on the 25 years. Thanks for the work of sharing. Does the rental place have KLR's ? Much better for two up in my opinion.

Thanks for all the pictures to gawk at while I am snowbound.

I love the area around Arenal. We stayed at the Hotel Tiliwa for a couple nights on our last trip.

Next time I plan to rent a bike.
Wild Rider needs a rental shop over in Liberia. I haven't been over to San Jose yet.

Thank you very much...I don't think they have any KLR's, but there is a BMW dealership that rents beemers and larger bikes. The DR650 was way bigger than most of the bikes that we saw there, and in hindsight it really was good for most of the riding that we did.
