Just choose a different time frame. Just kidding :rayof !

July and August are definitely a very hot commodity, they usually go in no time. I try to convince people that May and September are just as nice, weather wise, and you do not compete with french people on those periods near as much.

How long will you be there?

The KTM shop in Trinidad is a nice place, I got a new tire from them on the TAT. Great service, I highly recommend them.

Yep, ride the TAT backwards. That corner of NM is really cool. You could do it in one day I would assume. Just watch for cows out there on the open range.

I would love to, but it would be at my peril on the family front.

First family trip to France is promised to intersect le Tour! Juillet, pas Janvier!

Any new information on how/where to hire a bike or if you left a few in the garage?

Looking to book our annual vacation in the next few weeks (which means I'll probably book sometime in March or April to depart sometime in the late spring, early fall).

    Thanks!

I guess the PackMule family is fan of the ASO events. So am I anyway ;-)

Well then you can do July first and then repeat in January.... Last year the tour went through about 30 min from our place. Actually the town where I grew up, got sent some of the gadgets that is given away by the caravane du tour :-)

Plus July is way better to ride motorcycles than January :deal

Unfortunately not really locally, there is a place in Lyon. Our last trip I wanted to rent an offroad bike and I was never able to source anything so I had to fall back to my cousin's brand new 2013 six days 500 KTM exc. Nice bike I must say.

Maybe I should just ship a couple of bikes from here and have them there and have all the legal contracts made on that side of the ocean. I cannot stop to wonder that if there are so few motorcycle rental companies in France it must have some thing to do with the legal system over there...

In any case I will post on this thread as soon as I come up with something

:D ASO definitely have us pegged.

We're probably a year or two away from our TdF holiday yet, but having somewhere that was a base of operations that we could travel and watch a stage or two, along with a more traditional vacation plan, would be great. Will have to see how things shape up here, and coordinate that with the route when we go.

After Dakar, you should ping Ned and/or Pyn. They've got extensive experience with fly-n-ride bike scenarios. :beer

Here is their facebook page: Kick et Declic

They are a Beta dealer and the way I understood it, it was kind of dependent of what they had at the time. If you are serious about it, let me know and I can call them up and check for you. No matter what it probably would only be enduro type bikes...

Thinking about getting a couple of 690s to be parked in the garage to be rented with the house. Would that increase the interest?
