Here's a nice Dual Sport Track. It starts in Frederick MD and heads North. You will drive through 3 wooden covered bridges (Thanks to Chisenhallw for the idea!)

Then the track will head south bound covering 3 farms that churn their own ice cream. What a delight! If you do it during 2014, you should download and bring your Ice Cream Passport. Ensure you check the working hours (some are closed on Mondays). (Thanks to Lakota for the idea!)

Info on Ice Creamery Here: http://marylandsbest.net/marylands-best-ice-cream-trail/

The Track: It is winding country roads. There is dirt (country road type), there is one water crossing. It has quite a lot tree coverage, so lends itself to nicely to a cool summer ride. I did it on a F650 with street tires. We had a K1600 which did all but the water crossing.

I fully intend to make a track to hit the other cluster of Ice Creameries. We learned there are 5 more covered bridges. So, we'll either align the track with those (if we can find them) or maybe with some lighthouses. In that case, it will be called "Lighted Cream"

Probably the nicest structural design of the three bridges:

Not a covered bridge, but a fun one no less

    Loys Station
This Bridge was the nicest of the three.

How is the water so clear up here, and such a muck fest by the time it gets to the Potomac?

All Lakota wanted to know is when are we getting to the creamery!

The cuter the pony, the more evil they are. This one is probably one of the cutest I've seen. This one is even sneering at me!

Nice babbling brooke on the track

This sign on Roddy Ridge talks to the 5 other bridges

This indicates only 6 remain. I"ll need to look at digitizing this file...

Thank you for this! I ride through Loys Station bridge fairly often on my way home from work. I live in Frederick, had no idea about the creameries. This will be fun!

I think we were riders up at 0900 and finished somewhere around 1700-ish. We took a lot of photos though, and ate a ton of ice cream at each stop.

    Nice ride, thanks for posting!

Is the water crossing the babbling brook shown in your photo above? :ear I'm thinking of taking this trip but I'm still a little nervous when I cross water :shog

No, that water XCing has the covered bridge above it. I'd probably recommend you just use that :D

Here's the water XCing on the lower part of the track:

And if you don't ride like a Mad-man, your crossing will look more like this one..

Rode most of your trail over the weekend, sadly, it was in the trusty Honda Element... :( I had been planning on camping in Gambrill State Park and riding the loop for about a month, some friends in tow in the car. However, the weather did not cooperate for that. Anyways, loved the route and the ice cream! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for posting up! I always wonder if people are still lost in an endless loop, or if they actually enjoyed it. It's probably a track that we will repeat this year.

I rode a portion of this today. Roddy Road Bridge and part of road through the national park are closed. It will be awesome to do all of it once things warm up.

I just downloaded your route today, and will give it a go later in the season, as it looks amazing.
