Anyone dare to replace the 2 stroke engine with a low-maintenance 4 stroke engine and retain the proper balance and handling? It's sacriledge to suggest it, but the bike's fit and handling are different enough from my WR to consider it, and quickly rule it out if the answer is "no".

what sort of power are you looking for? I had a Supermoto with a Yamaha YZF R125 LC engine in it with a keihin 32mm carb it produced 24bhp then with a 200cc kit just shy of 30bhp but the way it picked up was mental could keep up with my friends 2 stroker in acceleration only loosing out in top speed due to my bike being a supermoto so the smaller wheels limited speed.

Thanks for the info! Just something light, simple, balanced, bolt-in, and low maint...(lol!). Anyone familiar with the cr's 2 stroke knows the very fun power punch and light weight comes at a price, e.g. top-end work after 21 hours or so of recreational use, 7.5 hours of competition use. The CDI was unavailable on the OEM parts fiche; the aftermarket replacement (which mine needs) is made in Belgium, home to fine pastries and mx bike brains..
