FYI found these plastic cases at Bunning today. They look very similar to Pelican cases but the build quality is obviously not as good, but for $85 what do you expect. I still bought one and intend to use it as a top box, they might also make good panniers.

    Measurements are 515L x 435D X 225H

That shed is looking a bit bear!!! Looks like you need a couple more bikes to feel that space. :fyyff And by the way the cases don't look too bad I was having a look at them some time ago.

I looked at Bunnings in the past for something suitable to mount on the back with no such luck. Hopefully I can find one of these cases at the local Bunnings, I could still use some extra storage capability.

I saw them on Friday and very nearly grabbed a pair, :lol3 , of cases. :lol3

But the label said only water resistant and that put me off.

No questioning the value though. :deal

They look alright. What section were they in? Do they have different, smaller sizes, maybe?

I reckon if they're airtight, they should be reasonably waterproof. Have you tried hitting them, dropping them or standing on them, to see if they're durable enough for bike use?

^ Good questions above. I would be interesting in knowing how you mounted it, and just how resilient the plastic is. Will it stand up to a thrashing on off-road tracks? Or when then temps hit 40+ will the box still be able hang on when introduced to vibration.

+1 wondering how you fitted it as I've been looking at grabbing a Pelican for the tranny (I should be getting it wholesale through work:clap)

They have to say that otherwise people will go deep sea diving with them and complain they let water in.

Great looking one but how did you make it stick to the bike?

BTW Did you get it from the one at burwood hwy?

And that little knob behind the handle is to release/equalize pressure so they must be pretty air tight therefore watertight

I haven't mounted it yet, its just sitting on the rack. I've seen somewhere on the net mounting plates specific to Pelican Cases and V Strom rear racks, otherwise I will just make one up, I'll post pics if I do.

As to how tough these things are I can't see them being any weaker than Givi's or similar, I stood on it in the garage without any probs. The question is would you stand on a Givi case, drop it and/or bash it with a hammer and expect it not to break.

Good find, I will check these out as well.

Any info in the packaging that mentions what type of plastic its made from or if its UV stable etc?

Used to have a pelican case as a camera kit (well, fancy that?), in my previous occupation. It basically sat in the car for ever. The hot / cold cycling eventually warped the lid and it wasn't water/dust proof.

Later versions have the valve that needs to be kept open, unless it is in a wet environment.

Of course, if you drill holes in one side, that will probably also compromise it's waterproof-ness.
