I do realize that these cars are way different by the time Toyota was done with them,
but I had a 1984 Celica ST Coupe (same platform, same year series as above).
Worst POS I ever had, but POS is the wrong term.
It was dead reliable, never opened the hood in the year & a half I had it.
It was just a horrible car to drive, and evn just be inside. Horrible Interior.
It squealed around easy corners with BAD stock tires, leaned way out with BAD stock shocks and no sway bars.
Rode hard like a "slammed" 90s Civic over nasty pothole stuff, and wallowed like a 70s cadillac over small whoops.
Those 80's Celica STs were slugs.
My '97 1-wd Ranger P/U was even slightly better.....

    Bad Times.
    Traded it on a 1985 Mustang GT 5-sp :D
    Good Times.

I think you are comparing a 4 banger Celica with a 6 cylinder Supra. Those Supra's were quite a bit different than Celicas. They came in at a respectable (For a yota) 161 HP, 5 speed. That being said, had a buddy with a 5.0 Mustang of the same era and way more torque, but in a twisty roads that Supra sure was fun ride.

They were about as different as any two cars could ever be from the same basic platform.
Except for maybe some of those 90's Chrysler/Dodge Shelby Turbo econocars,.....remember that 4-door Shelby GLHS?

The one that "Goes Like Hell S'more" - you betcha. Can't belive that was based on a Dodge Omni which was the biggest POS I had the displeasure of breaking down in (My aunts). I'd take any car with Shelby's name on it. I think I may bore my KLR out and call it a Shelby! Sorry for the trip down memory lane..now back to craigslist.

    Want!

That ohc Honda engine design is still made new I think. I learned both to ride and wrench on an S65. The internals looked like jewelry compared to later British stuff I had.
