I paid $1,000 for the same bike in perfect condition. I have put a ton of hours on it. Great fun. I feal I still have a lot to learn before I "need" an newer bike.

Had to replace the fan and water pump impeller. That's it. Some body part are impossible to find. A lot of the engine parts from the Rev3 fit.

Rear brake is weak. Takes a lot of tuning to get the most out of it.

I have been told by long time riders "old bikes like that are not worth the cost to rebuild the engine.." Who knows, I was thinking of offering $500 for it as a parts bike. If it was closer I would.

The interesting thing of that `96 would be the `98 280 kit. The question would be if it comes with piston and rings? Used or what? Is the 280 on the bike and/or where is the 250 cylinder?

Damn this forum. I must have one.

Does this seem like a decent deal - 1995 Gas Gas 250 for 1500? Says it comes with 200 worth of parts. I kinda thought the price was a tad high but I am new to the trials arena (been lurking for about a month now). It's about 100 miles from my area, which is the closest I have found and somewhat close to my price range (~1000).

The `95 looks good and there are plastics in the background. Make sure the radiator is full and use something to check the quality of oil. If there is milky oil at all run as fast away as you can! Check the base gasket for a metal gasket. The early 250`s had a water jacket in the center cases. You do not want a costly project.

Thanks for the info fellas, exactly what I was looking for. I emailed the guy last night for more photos and a list of what the 200 in parts was. His wife emailed me back and said they would send some today. She did mention that the rear tire has a slow leak, but that isn't a big deal to me.

I might take a ride over there soon and check it out. You think an offer of 1000-1300 would be insulting if everything looks ok?

Guy got back with tonight. Looks like the bike has been well used, but from what I can see nothing that needs immediate attention. Noticed the back fender is zip-tied on. He said it is mechanically sound and starts second kick, lights do not work. Has a nice collection of parts that go with it. Any of you guys see anything to set off a red flag?

Book value on that GasGas is $1,200 in excellent condition. I would say that bike is in less than excellent condition.

I always consider spare parts as sweetening the deal. They do not increase the value of the bike.

    Here's a similar bike -

    http://goldcountry.craigslist.org/mcy/3797731021.html

It has not sold in months. Where a nice bike sells in hours.

I paid $1,000 for my 95 Beta in great condition.
