Here She is. CRF500L #4 the 2nd UK entry and destined to be the forth only hybrid CRF500 in existence...!! ( All rather dramatic and I apologise for that and to SOCK, sorry bud, 4 is my lucky number being on the scale somewhere I couldn't possibly have any other number and anyway its logical. What is in a Sock...???? ans; 5 toes, FIVE TOES....!!! #5 )

This 2016 250L has had a rear shunt of some kind and I couldn't resist after indulging all three of your build threads ( a day of my life I've lost & will never get back but well worth it, I'm frothing at the mouth...!) . This has been brewing for some time now, not really knowing which bike to use then a good friend gave me the nod and push in the CRF direction. Now I cant wait to get started....

    THE ENGINE.....

Quick update, I have secured a brand new bike from which I can pick all I need for the build for £1100 plus the dreaded VAT. Engine plus all electrical ancillaries. It was in a Honda showroom which had a flood but the engine was unaffected. Unfortunately the keys didn't come with the bike so all I have to do is get a HISS Honda key cut and Bob's your Uncle !!!! Have spoken to my fabrication guy who is an engine swop specialist and he is keen to get his hands on it which for him is a good sign, he has got really fussy with his builds in his recent later years so looks like 'game on' from this point in time.......

Hahaha..... not funny...!!!! Yeah it's a real bitch and a 'catch 22' situation I have, I work offshore foor 2 weeks at a time but without the enhanced wages this wouldn't be happening at all. I'm lucky enough to have a fabrication guy that is not only amazing at what he does he is also very reasonable with costing. It will come together once I get my hands on the bike and engine next week for sure. I also have my other project on the go aswell, throw 5 kids, an E-commerce side business, demanding wife, hobbies, fitness regime and writing a book into the equation and you soon realise that there really isn't enough time to be had while your here on this planet...!!!

I saw Sock's post, good to see progress, I still cant get over how snug the engine fitment is on these conversions... #4 and #5 are GO....!!!

So, we stripped the frame bare, chopped the rails off, chopped the old rear lower mounts off, with throttle boddies on we found the ideal position. The sprocket was 'mm' bang on for height in relation to swingarm and CRF engine sprocket position and just 10mm forward of original. BUT... when referenced to your pictures we spotted that the rear top mount position was closer to the rear or the bike by around 25mm but still tight against the front central down tube. Strange.....

I know my down tube was lapped a little to make some more space.

That would make sense and tilt the engine forward slightly to make the air ducts for TB's less severe..!!
