Ditching the stock carb and putting a TM40 pumper carb on my LC4 was the best mod I ever made to it. Make the bike what it should be. :pope

I'll be riding up Thurs from the Framingham area and will be using FTB's Hampster Route for most of the ride up ( http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=981534 ). You are welcome to join us.

Flanny told me the pumper carb was the best mod ever but hard on the fuel supply, never tried it myself.

The way it has been explained to me is a pumper carb will allow faster acceleration. You don't have to use the ability to accelerate faster but when you do, there goes the mileage.

Yeah, I'm just not sure how much I lose by way of mpgs. I've got a minimum distance to cover with only an 18l tank and maybe some bottles in a bag.

    Thanks!!! :freaky

My dangerous little bit of knowledge:

The pumper is just that, it has an accelerator pump that squirts a little added gas into the fuel air mix under acceleration. The CV carbs (BST) use vacuum on a diaphragm to lift the slide to allow additional gas in.
Some people have drilled the 2 outside slide holes larger and/or moved the main jet needle clip down a notch to improve acceleration.

I opened up the airbox with the KTM "racing" side airbox cover and that seemed to help, some people pull the snorkel right off the top of the airbox also.

I would suggest that you only do one mod at a time so if you really F*ck something up you know what to back out :deal

Mine just started pissing gas out of the drain hose, usually means that the float needle valve seat needs to be replaced so I may as well do a rebuild.
Always better to have the carb on the bench in the middle of riding season than in the winter:baldy
