Jeff and I spent June 13th to the 23rd riding our DR350s. Ive been a FF here for a few years now and did a somewhat similar trip last year.
This year was different. With more money and a riding buddy, I really enjoyed this trip. Not that I didn't enjoy my previous ride, I just felt more
    experienced and prepared this time.

My name is Alex and this was our ride.

    June 12th
    - Last day of work

My Mom threw us a little going away cookout.
    Family, friends and food.
    Good times.

100 miles into the trip my speedometer and odometer stopped working. Pulled apart the cable at a gas station and found nothing apparently wrong. We didn't waste any time, I figured I'd fix it after arriving at Paul's house.

We rode around 650 miles. Ended up at a motel 6 in Mansfield, OH.

June 14th - Chowing down the miles

Had a late start after grabbing some breakfast at a diner, we were on the road by 9am.

    Flew by St. Louis.

Another 600 miles down. Stopped for the night at another motel 6 in Columbia, MO

June 15th - Easy riders in Kansas.

Spent all day cruising on Route 50.

Had some great burgers here, talked with the locals. "You aint from around here huh?"

It was getting late, past 11pm with thunderstorms on the horizon. So we stopped at the finest of lodging available to us.

June 16th - Colorado, Here we come!

Got an early start out of the Roach Inn. We were mountain bound.

Made it to Paul's place around 1PM. Threw some new shoes on the bikes and Paul had a look see at my speedo. The speedo gear at the wheel is shot! No odometer record of this trip :cry

Paul had a cookout for some Brecktreking FF's. Lots of beer, good food and company. Tomorrow's gonna be fun!

    June 17th - Brecktrek!

Wake our asses up at 5:30, breakfast at the Hungry bear for 6. Trail head by 7ish.

What a ride. Flat out fun. Nothing too hard, Just lots of fun and fast dirt miles.
Ride ended at around 10pm. 220 or so miles 95% or more off-road.

    June 18th - Relax

A day to kick back. Cleaned our filthy air filters, lubed the chains, checked/replaced bearings.
Drove around Paul's trucks, one needed a steering fix, the other was our transport to sonic. Discussed our plans, got some great GPS Tracks. Paul's the man!
We left for Gunnison around 5pm. Felt strange to be Back on route 50.

Made it to the Long Holiday Motel. Freaking Awesome room.

Here's a couple videos of the day. Some single track and the climb to the summit of American Flag Mountain. Warning, hooliganism and silly commentating ensue.

We made it back into town around 6pm and got some grub at Mario's

    Obligatory ADV food shot

    June 20th - Carnage Canyon

Left Gunnison and headed back through Taylor Park. Sailed over Cumberland and cottonwood pass. We met up with Paul again in Buena Vista and headed off to check out some extreme jeep trails.

Gave Carnage Canyon a visit and did every part of chinaman gulch we could find. Did a little quad track exploring as well.

Jeff rode Paul's bike for the most part. His bike was the least suspended with the most weight. This is Jeff's first season riding off-road. Needless to say, hes a quick learner.

Paul managed to give us our first flat of the trip, shortly after backing down the 30psi we usually run. :D

We rode back to Woodland Park on some desolate ranch roads

We did an oil change on our bikes and decided to head home that night. We left Woodland Park at around 7pm

Around 2am my eyes were too heavy to keep open. I found a nice field to sleep in just off of I80. I think I slept a lot better than Jeff.

    June 21st - Sleep deprivation

We woke up around 4:50ish in the field. Stopped at the next Mcdonalds for a breakfast and warm up. Around noon we passed out on a park bench in Nebraska.

We rode all the way to Iowa, stopping at another motel.

June 22nd - More miles, Less pictures.

Nothing to see here. Just lots of miles. Rode to mid state PA where we stopped at our last motel around midnight.

    June 23rd - Home

Total mileage was 4700. We rode the crap out of our bikes, burned through some cash and vacation time. Overall, Jeff and I got along great the whole time. No punches were thrown.:D I couldn't think of a better riding partner.

Thanks for reading my report. Ill be adding a few more pictures and videos as I find the time. Happy Trails!

No disrespect to DR350s, but I keep reading your title as, "CT-CO on 2 RD350s" and have to admit to being slightly disappointed when I find four-strokes.:D

Cool ride report all the same.

EPIC! That was a great ride report. I can't believe that you rode 15- 20 year old DR350's all the way to Colorado.
Oh to be 20 something again.:freaky

What seat did you guys use on your DR's.

Great ride report. Thanks for sharing.

Having moved from CO to CT 2 years ago and being back in CO each summer for work....a lot of the sights look familiar -- both in CO and along the way.

2 years in a row for these trips sounds like the start of a great tradition :1drink

I would love to have rides like this at least once a year! As of now, next year is looking good. :evil

I'll be riding this way till my engines grenade, wallet runs dry and my back allows.

I did add a steel brace connecting the two corner brackets on top of the cutting board. Also used a few hose clamps instead of just one.

It works great for me, lightweight, durable and was KLR cheap
