Is that Rob's 990? heheh.. The DR eh? I bet you're having a good time down there! I've been thinking about a PR or Cuba trip for a while now, PR cause it's easy, Cuba because it's not.. But tropical areas don't work with me very well. I'm literally allergic. So despite my curiosity I tend to head to the mountains rather than the beaches. I'm sure the scenery is better at the beaches...

    lets see more travel photos!

As evidenced by the pasty arm holding the piña colada, I tend to shy away from beaches as well. It's warm and I have a friend living here so it was an easy call. The scenery, by all definitions is fantastic. I don't know why Brazil gets all the attention, the figures here are...cartoonish. It seems to be every 14 year old's dream - improbably curvy women, tiny 2t motos zipping around with absolutely no rules, significant crime. You can't go out at night without being accosted by the... "professionals" here. Al, Cuba is 100% on my list for that very same reason. The allure of the unobtainable...

You sure you're not in my area of PVD?

Hell, I'm an EU citizen and can go any time. We need to get cheesebot EU or go through CaNAYdia. Or I could ditch him and just go!

Looks like the Roaming Rally and other such rides are beyond what I can do with my setup and/or ability...

I would be interested is a CnR type ride in NH, Vt, or Maine...
Something with a loop of 90 miles or so... (relaxed day ride..)
Say a Thurs up, Fri & Sat ride, and Sunday return...

So if there is such a thing... I may have missed it...

If not, I looked at doing something in the Mt Washington area,
(but would go somewhere else as well, just looking for dirt roads)

Here is a .gdb file of some routes, which I have not ridden and don't know how well they would work... so there would be an experimental aspect to the ride...

    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/67301053/Mt%20Washington%20CampNRide.gdb

Maybe May or June to get the summer off to a good start...
Just wondering if this would be of interest to anyone..?

Here's where I'll be. I may do a spring CnR before that though. If any of you other Nutmeggers or Clam Diggers want to make the trip, it'll be a good time. Harpoon Brewery makes for a good break on the way up. We camp quite close to Canukistan, so watch out for moose on the ride. I'm not kidding.

    That'll do it.

Are there any flights from the US to Cuba, or would a trip to Canada or Mexico be the first leg?

Jerry, I'm trying to fit in a 10ish day ride this summer. Possibly in June. Up the puppy dog to the NNAT, then, time permitting into Quebec and back home somehow. Haven't figured that part out yet. If you , or anyone else is interested in all or part, let me know. At least for the northern most section, it'd be good to have someone else as much as I enjoy being a loner:lol3

Have you considered the Roaming Rally Explorer Edition? It's a few days of remote riding in Quebec suited for big bikes. I'll also be on that ride. Here is the thread link.

    Hi Jim,
I have been looking over the NNAT the past few days as well...
I saw an extension that goes into Canada... and loops to the east and then a return on the Sunrise Trail in Maine.
So this is very interesting to me...

Do you think a stock wwr tank have the range?

Santa brought a IMS 3.0 gallon. That, plus a couple 1L bottles I think should suffice? I vaguely remember someone in the NNAT thread saying the furthest between gas was around 75 miles. Could be wrong though.

Fwiw, I've done the Sunrise from Ellsworth to Calais twice and loved it both times. To be legal, you'll need to register as an ATV in Maine, IIRC, I paid $75 for a 1 year tag on the GS. They also do short term tags, but I go up there several times in a year and wanted access to the whole system.
