Ct110 (postie) SuperMotard..... Am I nuts?

    So I've got this postie.... And I bought an XR250 tank for it, to make it look a bit more like a motorbike... And then I thought "why not do something that hasn't been done 100 times before". Which was probably my first mistake....

    So, what do you guys think? SuperMotard CT?? Possible? The forks on it are shagged anyway, so I thought a pair of XR100R or XR80 forks (if I could get hold of them) and a couple of longer shocks for the back, and then some MX mudflaps and some roadie tyres and away we go..

    Waddya reckon? Any of you guys had experience playing with posties? Particularly with those forks?

    Will, she's a beaut! Were the CR80 forks hard to mount? How much longer are the arm/shocks? Also what pipe is that? I wanna change the stock one too - would probably route it down like the yellow beastie you linked.

    DBarale - the trouble with the MadAss is it looks like Ass ;) Also I already own the CT!

    I actually like the Mad Ass (what a name!). But I was more wondering if the wheels and front end would work for your project?

    Forks weren't hard.I used kx80 trees but the cr ones will do fine.I cut the ct stem out and got a bush made to fit the ct stem into the kx trees then it all bolts together like stock.oh and i made a adapter to run the drum front,the forks i got were of a disc brake bike.

    The arm is 2" over.the shocks are 400mm.

    DBarale - I got the wrong end of the stick! But what a fantastic idea.. I wonder what the measurements are on that front end. I will begin investigations.

    Will - cheers for all the info mate, really handy. If I can't get the Sachs bits to fit (or if they're too pricey) I will probably dump a pair of CR80 forks on there, especially if it's that easy to do. Looks like the pipe will be a bit more work, but I'm sure I can find someone with a welder to help me out :)

    I also found this pic of a mono-shock CT, anyone hazard a guess as to what swingarm that might be? Could be fun to try, if I feel adventurous after changing the forks etc:

    Yes you're nuts:D

    Don't fill the tank, you won't have enough power to lug it and you around unless you start tuning the lump at which point the costs spiral out of control and it would prove cheaper to buy a more powerful bike. Oh, hang on, you're nuts, carry on:wink:

    Thats got kx80 forks and swingarm.
    The shock is mounted with out the pivot old school uni track style.
    Also the swingarm pivot point has been lowered.If you look closely at the pics you can see the old point just above the swingarm.
    Nice bit of engineering.
    The motor had some special work done to it too.
    I've been lucky enough to ride that bike.
    That bike went up for sale with some of the good bits removed,but the suspension was stiil on there.

    If you want a easier fork swap CT125/200 forks/triple trees bolt up

    Slightly modified.
    Custom welded double disc hub with 8" bicycle discs, mechanical calipers, KX85 forks and 19" front wheel. (It Stops !!!!)
    Adjustable head crown, high backbone frame, 17" rear wheel similar to the front with 1 - 8" disc.
    160cc Chinese YX160 engine, 3 gallon tank, KLX140 muffler.
    Bodywork by Rubbermaid.
    Motorsport Shocks I built for desert and MX racing 35 years ago. Nitrogen spring and variable damping depending on position in stroke.

    The head crown on the CT200 is too small for a decent set of forks, so it was chopped off and replaced.

    Hey Will_S,

    Do you have any more pics of the brake adapter and how it fitted? Have to do the same to a set of cr80 forks I'm attempting to rebuild. Good job on the bike btw!
