I need to actually get my hands on the new 62 - I believe the form factor is the same as the 60-series, but need to examine it, especially the backside for the way they make the battery compartment. It may be identical to the 60-series, in which case I'm already good to go on my current castings and moldings. If not, I will get to work re-tooling because as you say, it is definitely worth it to continue to make this cradle for them. They will no doubt be the next gen of most prolific hand-helds in use, in my opinion.

Timing has been tough lately, with the release of the 62 series coming at a time when I've been too busy to scope a dummy or get my hands on an actual copy - but I plan on having that sorted out. If anybody can confirm or deny the exactness of the new 62-series form factor for me, that would be appreciated until I get my hands on one.

As for the other Garmins, I just haven't had time to tool up for them yet, and no specific plans until I get the 62 sorted out. I did rule out the old Rhino series though, for those who still hang on to those - I don't plan on re-tooling for them.

I'll post back, but in the meantime, if anybody has the beta on the 62-series form factor, shoot me a pm or post up here. You're a daisy if ya do..... ;-)

    Thanks for all,

    Stovey

the 62 will not fit a 60 mount.
    but
it still uses the post on the back . I think you will only have to change hole size and or location.

I think I am going to try the 78. only reason is that the power cord is the old 4 pin and the 62 powers with the microusb which I dont have a good feeling about using off road

... and as it turns out, I was humbled to receive a gift from an active duty Airman who just finished a tour in the sandbox. Imagine my joy to find a mission flag in my mailbox yesterday, replete with a presentation certificate from the air crew of a C-130 E/H "Spooky" gunship of the 737th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron recently returned from Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. It was an honor and my privilege to do a very, very small favor for a guy standing guard over there on Memorial Day, and it made me feel good to tip my hat to him and the lads. To my surprise, I got the honor - he sent me a mission flag signed by the senior air crew; Pilot and Co-pilot, Navigator, Flight Engineer and both Loadmasters. Aces all, I tell you!

Team Ruptured Buzzard continues to salute you, and all of our service men and women. Thank you for your service, now and always.

    Safely here, because of you.

    Yours in Allegiance,

This new marine handheld looks like an excellent unit, and it has much to offer the Adventure Rider. I just tooled up for production on these Garmin 78's and hope to have a limited supply on hand soon.

Meanwhile, I have cradles on hand for the Garmin 60-series. Will also be offering a cradle soon for Gen 1 SPOTs, and there are two more I am working on but will not announce until the tooling is completed.

Thanks to everybody for their continued support! I appreciate all you guys...

    Sincerely,

Holly shit this thing is a work of art. You really know you stuff Stovey.
Pic to follow but I got to work right now. You have saved a trip for three of us with your expedited devolopment.
I am sure the wreck that breaks this mount and GPS will put me out of riding. BULLETPROOF!!!!!!!
    fit and finish ......perfect
    Thanks
PS forget the 62 series to update you 60csx , go for the marine 78 unit and still keep the robust power cord you have come to love on the V and 60 series' we now have a bomproof cradle

Thanks a bunch for the kind words Bob - it was a pleasure working with you on this. Wish I was going with you on the upcoming DS adventure! Have fun, be safe, take pics, and get lost......... :evil

A motorcycle, a tankful of gas and a GPS - and enough $ for a can of beer... the nexus of many solid trails to mayhem and chaos. We don't live forever, so making good tracks is the only way to go!

Stay in touch and Rally On my friend,

Product Field Testing is rigorous and manly..... US Fish and Wildlife helps us constantly with problem grizzly bear relocations to places directly in the path of our Teton Circumnavigations. We roll with Rolling Rock, just in case it happens to be our 'last ride.'

I just got back from a western TAT run that was some of the TAT and some Bobzilla Nevada back country with the 78's and 2 Stovey mounts. All I can say is that the 78 is tits for what we do and the holder that Stovey made is THE SHIT! With many crashes, tipovers ,a few over the bars and assorted poundings, nary a thought to the GPS. The plug on the 78 is the reason you dont want to go with the 62 series. Zero power problems. Mount strayed put and the clips never budged. About the only thing we had no issues with were the GPS and mounts.
Thanks Stovey YOU are the REAL DEAL:clap

    Toro618,

Thanks - I'll keep you posted. If somebody could be without their 62 for a couple week stretch and want to sent it to me so I can use it to tool up (like I did for Bobzilla) then I'd have what I need to make those.

Shoot me a line anybody who can send me a Garmin 62 or a Gen 2 SPOT.

    Thanks!

    Sincerely,

    Stovebolt

    Leith,

Glad it arrived and that you like it. We will stay in touch and also please let me know how it works for you as you go. I'm getting ready to leave in less than a week for a week-long trip across the hinterlands of Nevada with a couple other inmates..... taking my recently crash-tested cradle along in my cockpit.

I'll chime in when I get back............

    Thanks Buddy......
