Bundling up the excess length of Garmin cable with a Velcro strap got a bit tiring after a few years, so I started to look for custom length Garmin cigarette lighter adapter cables.

Well, since they're not available from Garmin, the only solution was to cut the OEM Garmin cable down to the required length and install a high quality marine grade 12V plug. This plug comes with a rubber strain relief that is a snug fit on the cable. Above average quality!

I hadn't thought of a marine fitting. That's great news, I'm just in the market for one of those plugs. Thanks GR.

If you want to go the commercial route or don't have the skills or tools for DIY,Powerlet will make custom length cables and they have a variety of Garmin specific applications.

Well it is a standard cigarette lighter plug that also twists and locks if you get Marinco's cigaraette lighter receptacle. That according to what the salesperson at the chandlery told me.

The only ones I found on their site for a 60 Cx have the BMW plug on them.

I plug mine into a standard cigarette lighter outlet. I already have 2 BMW outlets and installed a standard cigarette lighter outlet under the dash for my GPS, charging my cell phone and PDA, etc.
