Anyone planning on doing the top of the world highway on the way to Dawson? Wondering if I can leave Tuk and be in Dawson early enough on Thursday to not miss any of the fun. I don't imagine it should be a problem doing that ride and getting into Dawson relatively early. Mostly wondering about average ride time, and any issues with the border or the ferry.

Over 100 people will ride the TOW to Dawson for D2D. It is about the only practical way to get from AK to Dawson. You must mean Tok not Tuk. Tuk is up the Dempster Hwy and beyond. Tok is in Alaska and about 12 miles from the Taylor Hwy that connects to the Top of the World. Tok to Dawson is 200 miles and an easy day ride unless the roads are very muddy.

Ride time is 5-6 hours at an easy pace and visit to Downtown Chicken. Several Alaska riders will spend Wednesday nite in Tok either camping at the Eagle Claw campground or in a motel. Arriving in Dawson in the mid to late afternoon is what the kool guys/gals do. The border closes at night. It opens at 0800; not sure when it closes. Best check online to confirm times. Pretty low key crossing...... unless you are with me.

Oops. Yes, I mean Tok. I will be coming from Whitehorse and was planning on riding straight to Dawson on the 20th, but now I will instead head to Tok on the 20th and do the top of the world on the 21st. Thanks for the information!

Has anyone made contact with Triple J Hotel lately? I've sent 3 email's and a couple calls to their automated voicemail with no replies!?

Hey girls and boys, the Dawsonites have been dealing with -40/45C for the last week, for Mericans, thats close to -50F, ain't no Maui chit! Instant response is a disease of cellular culture, it is a value of, "It ain't no fucking rally", chill the fuck out and let the universe unfold or just book to go to Sturgis or the BMOA Rally in good Ol Merica!

Not sure if it’s seasonal (sure they are) but I’ve had the same response over the last couple of years. They’ll get back to you at some point.

Thanks for the heads-up there DICK! I am fully aware (being in ole` AK) of the winter temps and subsequent issues they bring. Also NOT looking for an "instant response" just one within a reasonable 30 day window. I am also fully aware they are closed for the season and won't reopen till May (as their automated voicemail states) I did follow their instructions for fastest response sent them an email to their reservations address.
Have another sip of Schnapps as you sit by your tosty fire and chill the F@#$ out yourself........... Cheers :beer

Just having a freshly ground dark roast with kahlua and baileys and it has warmed up to -30C, alles klar, as the krouts say. I agree they are being a little slack and I am going to try and rattle their chain this week.
    All the best, Cheers!
