    dakar.visser.it has this nice feature:

At a glance it allows to understand who is loosing/making time from WP to WP. Today it's a loong Special, it's gonna be usefull for us the F5 pilots.

this has already been discussed but think about it.

The rider is in the recovery position,
The bike is on its side stand
There is a helicopter that has obviously spotted the fallen rider.
It is probably going to land to assist.
    Someone else has/is obviously assisting
What could he possibly do to add any value by stopping??

The new leader of the general standings, 10’02 ahead of Frenchman Cyril Despres (KTM) (who received a 10 minute penalty yesterday evening for an offence committed in the starting zone of special 4), Spaniard Marc Coma (KTM) got the day’s special started at 7.25 AM as scheduled. He was followed 2 minutes later by Despres.

    • 07:59 Bikes: “Chaleco” leads after 29 km

The first three bikes have just completed 26 km of the day’s special and Chilean “Chaleco” Lopez (Aprilia), 3rd to start this morning, holds the best provisional time, 13” ahead of Frenchman Cyril Despres (KTM), and 24” in front of Spaniard Marc Coma (KTM).

    • 08:04 Bikes: Pain in 2nd after 29 km

5 bikes have now completed 29 km of the day’s special and Frenchman Olivier Pain (Yamaha) boasts the 2nd best provisional time, 9” behind “Chaleco” Lopez.

    • 08:11 Bikes: The French are gaining on 'Chaleco'

The first 5 bikes have now completed 45 km of the day’s special and it is still Chilean Francisco Lopez Contardo (Aprilia) who holds the best provisional time. However, “Chaleco” only has leads of 4” and 9” over Frenchmen Cyril Despres (KTM) and Olivier Pain (Yamaha) respectively.
