I thought the marathon was Fri-Sat, followed by the rest day but now I'm not sure why I thought that.
Yup. Better today than on the marathon stages.
Darn work and other chores. Impossible to keep up in the F5esh F5esh behind other inmates!

Damn, Dakar site tracking page is down. http://gaps.dakar.com/2013/dakar/stage-05/aso/ukie.php
I think you nailed it, Jason.
Winning a stage is fabulous
“The stage I won in 2010 seems a long time ago. I've always said to myself that winning a special stage is fabulous. What's more, winning at the start of the rally when all the riders are still in it, it's really great. At the end of the Dakar, it can be argued that other riders relax and manage their position. When you win like that with all these riders who've got the bit between their teeth, it's good. Also, it was on a 136-km long special stage, so today it was like a long sprint. I'm really happy about it. I've really got the feel of my bike now and I'm really enjoying it. It's a bike on which I feel good, on which I gobble up the obstacles and behind the handlebars of which I'm relaxed and calm. I arrived on this Dakar having taken stock, with the aim of enjoying each moment, each second. I'm 38 years old and I'm going to take every day as it comes. I'm itching to ride flat out and today I had great fun”.
Where is the Rally Princess this year?
Still up here though no update recently. I notice that the last 4 riders into ASS are all credited with time on stage of 05:00:00 and +03:20:18. Does anyone know if that's time-cutoff for the stage? It's probably "always" been like that and I just never noticed.
Could be a 205 of gargantuan proportions (40 + pages to sweep) but yes he rode last year... in fact every year since 2006...
in fact, good tip for new f5 players...
If you click on the rider/drivers name in the POSIS table or ranking list on the dakar.com homepage, you get a complete dossier on the rider including previos Dakar appearances, stage results and a f5anboy f5oto...

I pretend to comprehend english...
well after a short liaison back to the bivouac it's time for me to turn in... f5irehose roadbook checked over for tomorrow and ready for it...
in terms of the convo about despres, i think he is riding well within himself, setting up a push after the rest day. he probably is trying to conserve his bike and having the husqvarnas and hondas fall by the wayside due to mech issues is probably vindicating this... of course the surprise package of the yamahas coudl be interesting if they can keep up with the reliability...
haven't seen any footage of casteu and pain today but certainly every other stage despres has looked very relaxed riding whereas the others at his pace have looked like they're going at the upper limits of their skills...
hopefully the yam riders can put some decent pressure on him tomorrow...

Before heading out this morning Marco and Mateo of Freedom Rally:
Wouldn't want to be the guy tasked with the mission of fitting a new windscreen to that buckled up car. Has to take ages to get everything aligned! Or do they just screw on a sheet of plexi and seal it with heaps of silicone?
He is doing everything that a corporate rider should... the Speedbrain equivalent of Faria...
wait till their respective bosses give them the "all clear" in future...
