"barreda on the bull"
ASO is reading here for sure
Phew - caught up at last
Looks like it was a pretty tough day out there (actually I think was worse than 'pretty tough' but there might be ladies present )
Well done to the riders that have made it to the bivouac tonight
Thoughts and swift recovery to the riders who have fallen and been hurt out there today - there seems to be a lot more this year than in the past
And for those riders still out there, whoever you are, whatever colour your bike is, and whatever country you are from, stay strong and keep going
Today I found very, very stressful. Only able to pop in and check where we are from time to time but, each time more drama unfolded.
Blown up tyres, quads crashing down mountains, broken Verhoefen, Sam AWOL for like more than 2 hours with half of the top 10, Faria crashing badly Geniel de Villiers broken car, flat tyres, steep mountains, lost riders. Add to that the snippets of news coming in from yesterday.
In the words of Vinnie Jones: "Its been emotional"
But there is some good news. 18h34 Local time and we have 100 riders in the ASS. 54 still to go, less the broken ones.
Spare a thought for our Mongolian competitor #180 Boldbaatar DAMDINKHORLOO (Now say that 5 times really fast ) who MADE it in !! This is his third attempt at finishing this race I believe - he just does not give up.
Lets bring in the rest with a steady slow clap:
Here is a pic I have been wanting to post since the Fr 4 footage but have been too busy: The truck that wanted its belly scratched being extracted last night.
Impressive. They snapped the rope a couple of times.
Thanks for this. :
Must....resist!! The Dakar I mean
Now I'm off for a quick sundowner with the wife before the Eurosport comes up!

At least some PR guy probably does :)
Any word on what ever happened to Pal's bike?
I can't see the ASO changing things, there's no real reason to. It's a shame Sam, Speedy, Grabbo etc have lost ground, it would have been nice to have multiple potential challengers for a bit longer but as has been pointed out to me during past events c'est le Dakar.
TO THE A.S.O.: If you're reading this...
Please, PLEASE, please, could you get the timings to display on all of the WP's on each stage, and not just the CP's? This will make it a lot better for those of us to follow our favorite competitors.
We will be Extremely grateful if you can do this. Thanks!
What a shot!!! :eek1 I'm a real closet truck guy.
Good Morning (at least it is for me), afternoon, evening, and night.
My work day is starting out here in the big pond (though I got up @ 4 am to get caught up on some 40+ pages about 3'rd stage chaos). Absolute craziness! EuroSport VLC is powering up. Seems a tough day. Hope everyone made it in alright.
Not any more, you're well outed now!
haven't been here in a while and I'm not sure it it's OK to do so or not, but here is link to some photos of the riders I help out. : https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.712984492053631.1073741931.255465811138837&type=1
Yes, Cyril is a strong Mechanic. Spent many hours himself with the Yamaha guys developing that bike to how he wanted it. Serviced his own XR400 on an early Dakar if I remember rightly?
ah! ces dunes noires près de Mendoza!!! j adore!
I can't even say it once.
Should be visible when printed on 8x11.5 Used Redhats WP calcs, all else from Dakar.com
