    Update on Italian riders withdrawal:
Toia fell hard during yesterday's stage and fractured a scapula. Managed anyway to finish the course witht the bike, and got to the medical tent on his legs. :huh
De Filippo finished yesterday's stage as well but suffered from severe dehydration and was not able to start today.
Talini (58 years old Dakar "rookie") retired for exhaustion before finishing the stage and got earlier at the bivouac with his bike.

Also, even if he is listed in the standings as arrived at ASS, Alex Zanotti (TM factory rider) have been disqualified because did not reach the start of the special stage in time. He was the rider with Kevin and had a problem with his tyre as well.

Interesting. VLC hasn't been working so well for me either.

To be honest, my Internet connection hasn't been to great but I am afraid to call my carrier since they will want to take it down for testing.

Anyway, I opened the Eurosport 1 link "rtsp://93.120.27.78:1935/live/euro1" in Quicktime player and the video quality is MUCH better. Audio is still in and out, but progress.

will the "seal" numbers be registered to each rider eliminating wheel swaps in the bivouac?

From Helder's fb page....if someone can translate this....

Well hopefully Peter at least had some of Beechum's rock-pounded potatoes in his pocket when he caught fire so he could have some chips to eat while figuring out what to do next.

Today was an uphill step, held up to 4,300 meters altitude, extreme hardness and very demanding navigation. I went through some setbacks, I lost quite a few minutes, but I managed to get to the bivouac.
I wish a speedy recovery to the Ruben.
    See you tomorrow.
