It's also interesting that dakar.com's "live feed" says nothing about RG apart from

You'd think they'd give us some of the usual updates when something goes wrong with a high-profile competitor like RG.

They are likely debating how to not penalize him without pissing the other teams off and having them launch protests.

Ruby is a media sensation and the ASO know it. Having him as a contender is good for business :nod

Good point. We're almost used to him racing the last few days outside of the classification, but screwing it up before the start of SS1 is really something else.

I don't know why we are surprised at this but somehow we always are. I guess its because we are rally tragics.

He brings a new basically untested car in and expects to win. Are the mecchies the same as last year? I suspect not. A lot of it has to do with team dynamics, and Robbie unfortunately does not seem to be able to get a stable team together ...

    Why is this? :dunno

    Cough cough....control freak....cough cough...

One man cannot be the team manager, lead mechanic, lead car cleaner, pr manager AND race for two weeks.

Now as to why he has yet to finish stage one or why he was late to the start...I haven't heard anything yet...

Some people would quickly reply Robbie. :rofl

How about a new navigator every year for a start?

Is it the same with the rest of his team? I don't know. :ear

    {edit I hope I'M not being too harsh, Dakar is brutal enough. Its a shame to see Robby battling so early}

Just to re-iterate, it was asked for last year - decided AND agreed upon that a seperate AUTO sticky be put up.

In my (now numbering four) posts pointing out this f5act, it was pointed out that this does NOT mean no auto stuff here in the f5irehose, yes please the interesting posts and news are, have been and will always be, welcome in the OFFICIAL COVERAGE thread... it was merely pointed out that (for those more pre-disposed to AUTO chatter) that the other thread exists, AND for reasons of simplicity/less confusion the "waypoint/CP" chatter :deal "Peter Hansel thru CP1".... "Sainz 37 second behind at CP2"... "CP3PO should be opening any minute now...?" etc. might be better placed over in AUTO, so as not to clog things up more than already occurs.

But no worries... I'm not the doyen here... just the humble servant... so post wherever you like... :clap

But the f5act is it is NOT too hard to f5ollow both... just open two folders in your browser and run them parallel...

The THREAD titles are different - so you can see them up on the folder index, when finished reading, just close, open the other one and check it out... or go to micha... or posis... or the Dakar.com site or facebook, twitter, google or whatever.

Then when you re-open the folder (either f5irehose or the AUTO thread) just press F5 (duh :doh so, that's where the name comes from??? :huh) and the page will reload all the new waffle you have missed in the last five minutes, and start the process overa gain.

    Simple enough? :1drink

Now that you've put it so diplomatically, you're making it hard to complain about heavy hand of the establishment...
I had a picture ready and a joke that next they'll make us work on rest day and take away our f5pensions. :cry
