Mito's fitted with 600cc Rotax singles were popular in Europe a few years ago for SOS racing.

    Kraven,

If you talk to that Honda rep again..talk hard....let him know that if Honda just brings this new bike out for europe only he's gonna have a castle revolt from all the US Honda fans that have been waiting since 1990.

Its almost easier to kick over a BRP than to push a button. Plus it gives you so much more street cred at the squid hangouts.

    Hey Fifth.....

I think the last DR800 prod year was 1997.

Just like any other PD bike with the exception of the TA and Tenere Yamaha (that was even rarer than the TAs) the DR Big was not a US model. You can find a few lurking around up in Canada and a few have been imported.

There was an absolutely beautiful model available in the Bay area of Cal 6 or 8 months ago on ebay. The owner had done a very nice job with some mods. You see 'em for sale once in a while. The Craigslist in SF has one that's been for sale for a LOOOONG time. The motor is apart and the owner says he has parts but no time to reassamble. Price isn't too bad, around $4000 if I remember, but its the kind of thing that you'd have to have some expertise in the model and visit the guy to tell if it's really a deal or if you're gonna get hosed.

There may be more of these around than AT's....don't know for sure.

Sure is a good bike though...supposedly, parts are still available through Canadian dealers. The german PD site mentioned on another thread has one that looks privately owner/raced and it EVEN has the ultra cool "katana" fairing over the headlight.....major drool factor!

That's pretty much what I told him. He inferred it would be released to the U.S market, and it would be badass.

Well, if that's childish, I must have been downright infantile as I was chasing Jimmy Lewis through Death Valley on my GS/PD

Nope, I love the race and love these bikes. You guys know that Tamiya made these plastic models right? You can still find them on Ebay.

Great post with great pics...saved 'em all. They make great wallpaper :thumb

I can't wait for the race. The French used to have the biggest jackass in the rally with Schelsser Not wanting to be outdone by the French, we sent Robbie Gordon. He makes Schlesser look like a gentleman! :rofl

THIS bike was our primary inspiration for the Rally Twins. Excellent, and THANKS for all these Dakar bike posts.
