Did you see HRC's bike for next year! This is from Superbikeplanet.com
This thread is absolutely awesome.
Take this pic from Russia.
Creator of this piece of art wanted to race with his machine on the Dakar rally in the early 90`s, but was stopped by lack of finance (and chaos in the country). Full custom 800cc boxer twin, homemade chassis and fairings. Today this bike is just too old, underpowered and heavy for Paris-Dakar. Rally remained a distant dream for the man.
End of June in Italy we had the very first Africa Twin Marathon meeting. We had 10 original Marathon, about the half did the Dakar '89-'90-'91
You can find some photos here
amazing. any more information or images?
I can try to translate a big article about the machine, if you okay with my crappy english (1 lvl above the google ). But, i guess it will be too long for this thread. So take the pics instead.
The next two is so tiny, what a shame, i cant find them in larger size.
The article is here. http://38a.ru/show/pubs/festival-avtotjuninga-2006/fest2006_tun06_5
I was fortunate enough to attend the 30 year celebration of the Ténéré last week in Bonaduz, Switzerland and was pleased to find a number of Dakar bikes on display.
I love the fact that this bike seems to have been kept in the condition that it was in at the end of the race and hasn't been restored.
It looks like a naked XTZ750 to me.
so many nice setups!
Nice pics .........thank you for posting
I agree, when Honda and Kawasaki used to bring their Baja machines to the local "new bikes" show complete with dust and dirt, they'd capture my full attention as I inspected every detail trying to locate all the "factory" parts
yup, nice pics of some vintage machines
Does anyone know this motorcycle?
Is this the Despres Dakar winning bike of 2007, sold in a ebay auction for Wings for live.
Make a new topic and ask for the specs! It is not the podium bike missing the SP.
Here it is:

Exact!!! And the owner is a very good friend of me. He calls the bike "the blue wonder.
Sorry this is the pic I wanted to show you:
KTM 690 Rally
Yes, it's Cyril Despres winning bike, the last bike that won the race in Africa. A real Paris - Dakar Rallye winner. I had the "honour" to ride that bike for some km.
