It's only a sticker and not a bike, but it's definitely a piece of Dakar memorabilia

Honda had an old African Twin at the International Motorcycle Show in Cleveland. It didn't look right, then I realized it was a Transalp converted to look like an AT. Disappointing

There was a single square headlight variant of the first gen Africa Twin. Might that have been what you saw? Looks odd but the rest of the bike is the same.
    Quite rare, but ugly.

No, the vin tag was a Transalp. I love that guys replicate them, I'd do it to mine if I could. But of all people, Honda could have displayed an original. I get excited when I see cool stuff, especially fresh from the races factory bikes, not a production RMZ with race graphics and a Carmichael 4 on it.

It's surprising, but with so few in the USA, it might have been the only option. That, or they expect most people to not know the difference.
    I miss my AT.

I'm a freelance mc jounrnalist/photog - just did a story on this bike. Ofcourse, it's a repli-racer, built by the Plam Clan at Wunderlich America. Very well made, highest quality components and an absolute blast to ride.

The square headlight was the regular model in Switzerland!

Can't believe Honda germany still shows Eddy Hau's beautiful RD04 750 Marathon with the wrong front-side fairings (the 650 ones!), anyone would please donate them the right ones? :lol3

great thread Paris Dakar bikes are my be all and end all . I am lucky I ride a 1990 transalp 600 as my everyday bike ( baby Paris Dakar racer ) :-) and my varadero 1000 long distance bike if I want to go fast on the slab and get my freak on and I have even ridden it on powdery sand but slowly and it was ok . I hope to some day own an Honda xl600lmf .
