I know you probably don’t read this forum. But I wanted to thank you for your considerate gesture yesterday about 1:30 on Ben Howard Rd just west of Sultan. It is true, I was exceeding the speed limit, and I know that’s wrong. I also should have been checking my mirrors more frequently, but as there was so little traffic I relaxed. Perhaps a bit too much. So, your passing me on the right in my lane, going twice my speed, was exactly the kind of wake up call I needed. I thought, “Wow, good thing I wasn’t setting up for that next curve or I could have drifted right in front of that guy and killed us both.” The adrenaline rush I got from that really woke me up! And the anger I felt toward you temporarily made me realize that I should calm down when riding. So thanks, big fella, I really appreciate it.

My riding buddy rides a KLR so I find this gut wrenching hilarious. :rofl:rofl

To OP: That is fricking crazy! So glad you weren't hurt, what an idiot. I travel that road a lot because it is the back way to my house and beats sitting on Hwy 2 at times. Wow! Karma may get him someday. Ride safe.

    From the Urban Dictionary:

Squid: A young motorcyclist who overestimates his abilities, boasts of his riding skills when in reality he has none. Squid bikes are usually decorated with chrome and various anodized bits. Rear tyres are too wide for their own good, swingarm extended. Really slow in the corners, and sudden bursts of acceleration when a straight appears. Squids wear no protection, deeming themselves invincible. This fact compounds intself with the fact that they engage in 'extreem riding'--performing wheelies and stoppies in public areas. Squids wreck alot. Derived from 'squirly kid'

I live on Ben Howard myself - its a pretty easy road to get a bit exuberant on, despite the 35 mph speed limit. It's also pretty common to see either a bike stuffed into one of the two nearly right angled corners or fresh squid parts ground into the pavement.

That said, high speed strafing passes aren't cool in my book, unless the front rider sees the passer and gives him the go ahead.
