Great report Matt! It was fun riding with your gang and I wish I could have continued! I had to hit the road so I could visit my mom down in Claremont at a desent hour. If you ever make it up to Central Oregon (Bend) I'll be happy to show you around our desert!

I got side tracked and will have to finish my RR this week. still have good tales and pics to share.

I didn't get to ride much but from what we've seen, there's plenty of riding and less camp time. wish we got more time exchanging lies, haha.

I was looking thru my DV pictures, and it reminded me to lookup the story behind this miner + penguin sculpture:

"That's a tribute to Shorty Harris. When he'd be out on the desert and would take up drinking from his bottle of O, be Joyful, after a time he'd look behind him and see a penguin following him around. He didn't see pink elephants, he saw penguins."

    Interesting character...

    Hello,
Thanks for the pics Joel as I lost my camera on a walk to the falls. Being gone for 11 days, thought I would burn through a 606 rear easy so stopped by Chaparral and bought a new one on the way out. Had knee replacement 3 months ago so didn't ride near as much or as hard as I thought I would. So hauled it home, had 3 offers to haul it home for me. Thanks, John, Colby and one other. I brung it, so I hauled it home, what a load!!
Had a great time and won great goodies at raffle.
Nice to see some peeps I knew and meet new peeps, great time!!!!!

since it has been a month and no one sued me, i was able to finally give the $$$ to the organizations we're supporting. 100% of the raffle money was donated.

    Blue Ribbon Coalition - $1,500

Angeles National Forest/San Bernardino National Forest Moto Volunteers - $1200

    Hello chaps!

Just wanted to say that it was an honor and a privilege to finally [after several years of sending raffle prizes, but not being able to make it in person] get to hang out with y'all at the n00bs Rally in DV. Mrs Kriega-Rukka and I had an absolute blast and loved every second of it.

Only being sure we could make it a few days before the event, it was all a bit last-minute and loading up with tents and samples the night before didn't leave me with time to throw on the right tires (or even check the fluids in the the bike! :doh), so we didn't get too far off the beaten track through Saline Valley, but it was still an excellent ride. Big thanks to Shawn Moto-Skivees for showing us that nice 'fat bike' route. Also, for letting Mrs Kriega-Rukka hop on the back of his Cadillac-like GS half-way through the day after she'd had enough teeth rattled out of her head riding pillion on my slightly less plush Katoom. :thumb

The last-minute thing also resulted arriving Friday, instead of Thursday, and zipping along the trails, only snapping a few photos, but here's what I got.

Pitched up, ready to enjoy the rest of the weekend:

Shawn and the 'proper' passenger seat that helped keep that smile in place through the second half of the route. :clap

All-in-all: not bad for a 'working' birthday! :ricky :photog

Thanks to NSFW and FYYFF for all their hard work in putting the rally together and to everyone there for reminding me why I got into the bike industry in the first place. :beer

    Cheers,

mike, it was a pleasure having you at the rally and meeting your s.o. as well. nice bike and good to see you got a little bit of riding. hard to mix work and pleasure, but now you know you could come a day earlier and explore.

yes folks, kriega has been supporting the noobs for many years. there's always 2 or more peeps lucky to go home with top shelf backpack and gear. mike is quick to response every time i ask for support.

see you mr. kriega and ms. rukka again next year.

of course, you are all welcome next year. i will save 2 of the bigger campsites for supporters.
