    We have our first <a href="http://adventuresidecar.com/?p=858">Advanced Class/Mini Tour</a> scheduled for July 16~18, 2010. We rode out July 3rd to check the <a href="http://adventuresidecar.com/?page_id=574">Western Gorge Mini Tour</a> route. Amy hopped in the sidecar and my brother, David, joined us aboard his Harley.

    We crossed over to Washington and headed up SR14
    <img src="http://adventuresidecar.smugmug.com/Other/July32010/IMG0459/922402993_LkaNL-M.jpg" alt="" />
    Road construction was halted for the holiday weekend, but it looks like I may need to find a work around for this leg.

    We crossed the Columbia back into Oregon on the Bridge of the Gods
    <img src="http://adventuresidecar.smugmug.com/Other/July32010/IMG0462/922404705_BErj8-XL.jpg" alt="" />

    A short hop on the freeway brought us to the backdoor of the Old Highway and, eventually, Multnomah Falls.

    The Columbia River Gorge is always in my Top 10 Favorites.

    The below map has just a few of the 100+ Lewis and Clark campsites along the Columbia. As you probably know, Bridge of the Gods was indirectly named by William Clark 120 yrs before the bridge was built. He stumbled across hundreds of Indian graves along the banks of the Columbia below where the bridge is today. All the grave markers were made of wood so they are long gone, but Clark called the area "Camp of the Gods". (All the dates on the map are 1805 and 1806)

    Hard to believe one mother could have one handsome son and one ugly one...or maybe it's cause he rides a Harley. :1drink

    More pictures if you got'em. Thanks for sharing! Be glad to share more L&C campsite locations if you have an interest.

    I was looking for good, cheap bikes to start Adventure Sidecar with. I ended up with 2 KLR 650's and 2 Bandit 600's.

    [IMG]

    The Bandits proved to be a little too much bike for beginners-70hp and a quick throttle can make for some exciting "moments" out on the field, so I am moving to all KLR's for the classes.

    (some of the student's loved the Suzuki-I could hardly pry Andy's boy, Jon, off of it!)
    [IMG]

    But I do like the little Suzuki. The Bandit is one of the great motorcycle bargains out there-high build quality, reliable and inexpensive. The handling solo or with a hack is great as are the brakes, suspension and engine. The frame readily accepts sidecar mounts with simple modification. I love this bike!

    This is the last vid for the trip. We looped over the south flank of Mt.Hood-this included about 6 miles of downhill gravel which was a little sketchy in places for the big Harley. The sidecar, of course, had no problems...
