Alon and I in front of the Pinnacles... by now the candy kick in
Saturday morning the plan was Haski and B1A crash Ransburg for lunch and back to camp.... in theory easy 80 miles
left the camp with Alon on his 950SE, Vern on his DR400Z on 2 of his friends which i cna't remember there names at the moment (need to stop with the candy) 950A and 990.
since this ride was Dezert Skills... we did some practice:
work out in the sand
and after long day my 650 wanted to take a power nap...
another gr8 weekend... next weekend WARP
Vicky and I decided to drive out sat morning. I'm still nursing the collarbone back to health and she's new to the dirt (and pretty new to motorcycles in general), so we're a good pair.
Met a lot of new folks. Here's Frank's boys.
and they find a big kid to play with
Vicky on her new XT225, a 2000 bought with 147 miles on it. My new toy in the background.
Jeff starts his skills instruction, an excellent session. Thanks Jeff for doing this, I learned a lot and I wasn't even riding.
first topic - good cornering technique. Jeff demo's it.
Hard down the straight
Hard on both brakes before the turn
Look ahead around the corner
Weight forward, head over the triple clamp, look further down the trail, bike follows where the eyes look.
get on it!
Frank and Joel try it out in front of an audience.
Joel came in too hot and washed out the front end
Then the action moved to a deep uphill rut
Frank cleaned it numerous times, but here's a shot of a fall at the top. Sorry Frank, get-offs are more interesting.
jeff rides through like there's no rut
then shows how to cross it, front wheel up
or way up
or just jump the damn thing
Frank was wondering if his XR could do a 3rd gear wheelie. Jeff said no problem and demo'ed.
Then on Joel's bike
We didn't stay long. Vicky's bike went down in the sand and the carb never recovered - probably a stuck needle value. Jeff, thanks for you're help there too and getting the bikes loaded up.
Next goal is to get Vicky up on SCD.
Suzuki Phil made it home ok, great to meet other ADV riders. Hope see everyone at the Big Bear ride.
We got home about an hour ago.
Great riding yesterday in an area I've never been to but will go back for sure. Thanks to Charlie for putting this together. Looking forward to doing it again.
Vern, Ti-D-Bowl (Tom), and myself are back safe and sound, had a great ride, Thanks Alon and ??????..... oh Danny, for the adventure. Just glad no one got shot!! hehe. I wish we weren't so knackered Sat eve, but all is good.
ok, i deserve it.... is it Jeff?
