Attention search nazis.................I tried it and was overwhelmed with useless info. If there is a prior thread on this please feel free to re-direct me.

I had a 12' KTM 450 XC-W and loved it, but sold it due to lack of riding time. I am now looking for another one. I have found a good buy on a new 500 XC-W and was hoping someone could explain the difference in how the motors feel and work.

I have never ridden the 500 and was curious how it compares to the 450 and hope that someone who has ridden both could explain.

    Thanks!!!!!! :1drink

    I have a '13 XC-W500 love the bike. Have ridden a '12 450 although
breifly. Only difference I could tell is overall power. You can never have too much power! My 500 just has more power everywhere. With stock gearing (13/50) it will wheelie on demand
just by cracking the throttle through fourth gear. I actually went 1 tooth bigger on the C/S for street use and it has no prob whatsoever pulling the taller gearing. It still rips on tight single track too, but have to use just a smidge of clutch on a rare occasion. I actually started to ride a little faster on the S/T so I don't use the clutch any more than with stock gearing. The motor has more than enough low end torque to do this.
    Chassis wise, I couldn't tell much difference.:clap:clap:happay
