I've been going through the cameralabs.com website and am impressed by their video reviews and range of cameras reviewed. http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/digital_camera_and_lens_reviews.shtml

How does yours rate and does the rating match your experience? (the Nikon D700 rates at 95% if you drop the value assesment - I'll add a 2nd % and the dpreview % on the end). http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/

NOTE: As dpreview has changed their rating scale, (which used to closely match cameralabs) I colored the new ratings in green and the old in red (as the older rate higher - add 10 to the green scores :D ).

For all things photography related, I usually rely on dpreview.

Ratings are subjective anyway. The Nikon D700 rates 95% if you drop the value assesment. :D (dpreview has the D700 at 94% but their rating system has changed)

I've used DP review before and they are very thorough - I do like the video reviews from cameralabs.

My Canon EOS 1DsMKII isn't on the list.....

Great full frame camera that you can pick up on the used market for a fraction of what it cost new - pro level, weather sealed and heavy.

mine is 86%, until you're in the bush and can't recharge your batteries, and splash a bunch of water on your camera. Then mine is 100% and yours is zero. :lol3

These things rely on some standard set of priorities, which generally doesn't match mine. :dunno

I have a Canon T1i which I use mostly for aerial photography. No camera is ideal for everyone but this one works great for me. Sharp clear pictures, fast accurate focus, lots of pixels, light weight and rugged.

I was in the camera shop today and this photog comes in she has 3 camera's (T1i & T2i's). She was buying a couple of new lenses. These camera's fit her perfectly.

When I first saw her come in and saw her slew of Canon's I looked over expecting to see D7's or D5 mkII but no, she's a Rebel!

    Nikon D40.

When you consider that I bought this rig, new with two Nikkor lenses for under US$600.00, I'd say that it rates pretty well.

The 5D mkII rates near the top with 91%. The 1D has the new dpreview rating of 89% which on the old scale would be close to perfection. My dream camera, the 7D rates at 93%

I'm guessing you have the equally awesome D700. :thumb

dpreview have completed their review of the Sony A55: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sonyslta55/page18.asp

...I'm now looking forward to the Canon 60D review! Preview: http://www.dpreview.com/previews/canoneos60d/

Funny, I like Pentax and Minolta and have been very happy with my P&S cameras - Makes me wonder if I should be looking at Canon or Nikon.

...I may just check out the K200D!

cameralabs has just finished their full review of the Sony A33 & Olympus PEN E-PL2.

dpreview has completed their reviews of the Olympus E-5 & PEN E-PL2.

dpreview has completed their review of the Pentax K-r

Yup but I prefer my Fuji S5 for static subjects.....the camera itself is slower, worse AF, smaller screen and viewfinder, but that sensor is amazing.

I assumed you were talking crap, but just checked DXOmark and the DR up to iso 800 is phenomenal :eek1

    How did they manage that?

    9th wonder

that sensor will be in demand for a few years yet, huge following. The search for ever higher ISO and more resolution at the expense of DR is the largest failure of digital sensors, IMO. I actually still reach for film in really contrasty situations.

    99% of the time I shoot a d-90. I have 2 other cameras...but the d-90 is king.

Even tho it got an A, it's not about the camera it is about the picture that is taken. I've taken many crappy shots and seen many awesome ones from camera phones.

That being said if I ever have to replace the d-90 I'm moving to a D-700 or its equivalent. I like the extra real estate of the sensor.

    Wide angle is bad A$$.

The D90 is a fantastic camera and it the top dog of the "A" pile. It is one of the best consumer orientated prosumer camera's out there. I really like the way it's built. I can't wait for it's replacement to see what it has to offer.

If you look at the A+'s you'd tend to agree the ones listed are the ones that should be there and the reviewers got it right. :D

I have added the Fuji S5 to the list. An "A" club camera. :D

I searched for Fuji S6 and it looks like Fuji got out of the DSLR competition.

To stir the pot a little I have added the Canon 60D prematurely with my own speculated rankings (1% more than the 550D/T2i, 1% less than the 50D and equal to the Nikon D90) :evil :D Canon 60D dpreview
