We've planned this ride since last fall and picked our May 24 long weekend for the ride.

Our goal was to ride as much off pavement as possible and hopefully discover some new routes along the way.

GPS was supposed to be riding his tricked out 530 EXC
    [IMG]

but recently added a 950 s to the stable

and my trusty steed. That once looked like this

now looking the way I like it ready for the ride

GPS is based out of Timmins about a 4 hour ride from Wawa where our trip was planned to start.
GPS loaded up all his gear thursday and rode down to meet me in
    Wawa.
He was working in British Columbia all week and just flew back and didn't have time to prepare so it all got stapped on.

We met up at our favourite high calorie restaurant to load up for the trip ahead.

Then back to my shop to get the bikes ready to go.

As I'm mounting up GPS's new rubber I catch myself saying that I ussually change my tubes with tires and I don't think i've ever had a flat on one of my bikes. JINX

at around 1:30 AM we were satisfied with the bikes and got some rest for day 1 ahead. 300kms of dirt from Wawa to Searchmont and 150kms of country roads. Some rest was in order.

We slowly get rolling in the morning the weather is perfect and the route for today starts with 100kms of old logging roads to Halfway Haven, A small atv/snowmobile resort exactly in the middle of nowhere.

After a quick stop for a chat, some fuel and a coffee at Halfway we decide on a different route I hadn't ridden before.

For the first 10kms the trail is powerline maintenance rd and is very scenic.

Then back on to some old logging rds on our new route for 70kms or so.

So I'm cresting a hill at about 80 mph and boom. I hit a rock and all the air leaves my front tire instantly. I was sure I was going down and it seemed to take forever to get stopped but I managed to ride it out somehow.

    out come the tools

This is a ultra heavy duty tube. Almost like a tire within a tire but it's cut wide open.

No problem, Spare tube installed and 20 minutes later were off an flying.

Lots of high speed logging road after that with few pics until we arrive in the small town of Searchmont.

From there it's a nice twisty pavement ride into sault ste marie.

We were to meet up with Isplat2 at his cottage north of Echo Bay for the night.

After a little coordinate searching we finally found the cottage and gracious host supplying multiple beers and large slabs of barbecued meet. Oh and a killer hot Sauna too.

Islplat and wife are great people and we can't thank them enough for their hospitality.

Now I'm no expert on the 950 S population in this part of the world but I'd guess having 3 here is pretty much all the population of norhtern ontario. Isplat2 also has a 950 S GO!!!

My wife and I drove up to the Soo this past winter and rode the snow train. The whole time I kept saying how cool it would be to ride the area up there. Now I see this thread of you doing it. Very cool. It goes on my list of stuff to do.

After a deep ahcohol induced sleep and a hearty full course breakfast we sadled up accompanied by Isplat2 and Scooter59.

We rode some great local roads north of Hwy 17 heading east. Saw the site of an old town of Havilah? ,(not much left).

picked up some extra gas cans for our afternoon adventure.

We even found some sand dunes :clap

As we were riding out of the dunes I noticed something in the sand. It was a footpeg assembly:eek1. After picking it up along came Scooter59 walking back. Obviously the owner of the peg:D
Luckily he wasn't standing when it came off but the bolts were stripped so he opted to head back leaving the 3 950's to carry on.

The high point of our morning was our stop in the small town of Little Rapids good old general store. They have everything jammed in there.
A little tip, try the 5 year old cheddar :thumb

GPS had been spewing fuel from his vents in a bad way so since this was our last gas stop before leaving civilization we decided to investigate. I was guessing there was a pinched vent line but upon removal of the upper fairing we came across not one but both upper vents pinched shut by the fairings. :eek1
A quick cutting of the hoses to make them nice and short and we were back in action.

I know this old store has been here a really really long time but I bet it's never had 3 950 S's parked in front.

that's all for now, sorry for the slow additions and I probably won't continue til next week, but it'll all come out eventually.:freaky
