Just put it back together conscientiously and you'll be fine. I wouldn't worry about it.
The manual advises against it because if you do not put the snap ring back in its seat correctly and it pops out, you'll lose all your oil pressure right then and there. Better for you to buy a new valve from them instead of the occasional idiot trying to sue them for a new engine.
Gotta ask, for what?
I want to say I saw that exact same note in either my Kawasaki or Honda service manual. It was one of those.
Annndddd... did the snap-ring get reinstalled the right way; ie: so its' chamfered side is facing the spring?.
