Same could be said between a 950SE and F800... or heck, many other combinations for that matter. I say the more race entries the better the chances this class will continue. In the desert outside Odessa, those hidden rocks and tree like sage show no bike prejudice. A guy or gal still has to finish without too much injury, bike problems, etc. :1drink

SportsGuy, put those Rotopax on and join the fun! :D

Is there anyway that there could be a 652cc displacement rule or a weight limit of xxx lbs? It just seems like it would still be an even field at that point.

Yes and that is greater than 650CC from the FACTORY...not an after market big bore kit/job.

    Didn't Maico make a 700cc 2T :eek1

Yes, Yes I see your point the more riders in the ADV class the better. I'm just saying that a 690R is sooo much more nimble, lighter, and has a killer power to weight ratio (it's closer in weight to my YZ250 then to my 950adv) compared to other true adventure bikes like the GS1200, F800, and 950/990,.
If I raced the 690R in Odessa it would be in the open class for the full 100 miles. It's an "enduro" bike, it doesn't want to race with the "adventure" machines.

But in the end I'm super excited that we have an Adventure Class at the D100 now. Even If I won't be able to ride it this year. Have fun guys and make the loop in one piece.

    The headstock says it's a '73 Honda CB500.

The short story is: modified CB500 frame, hybrid 550/650 motor, Suzuki DRZ front end and wheels, custom swingarm and ATV shocks. It is now slightly more finished than in the picture. Slightly.

The long story is here: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=823952

The rocky riverbank is going to be interesting. :eek1 :lol3

I think I will take in the Saturday ride on the 620 (not race) and perhaps race the 200 on Sunday. Sounds like a fun time

We were allowed to enter on the klr's last year. It was a tough sob. 1 out of 4 of us finished myself and 2 others bailed at the hotdog pit stop. No damage to bikes or ourselves. Did I say it was a tough sob on the pigs? It would have been beter if they kept the other dirt bikes of the course being passed by 100's of mx bikes on the tight sections kind of sucked.:eek1

I am really looking forward to this event! I have been been doing Crossfit 5 days a week for about 2 months now, stamina in this event is crucial as man handling a 500lb bike through the whoops and rocks can take it out of you! Any idea on mileage? 50 or so is what I think it was last year right?

Yup 50-ish... Two laps for the other classes = 100 ish miles.... Hence Desert 100. Not just a clever name. :hide

Ive been working on the 16 oz curls since last year.I find that lots of reps help a lot, however be careful, you might be sore in the morning. Should be in prime shape by race day:lol3

Then I'll be there...if I can sneak away from co-chair duties. Usually feel like I am running around with my head cut-off at times.

I believe you signed up as a vendor again? :beer
